I voted for pidzi, as I did for RG. I think pidzi has more chances to win Wimbledon than RG, both because grass fits his anticipation gamestyle better than any other surface, and he choose Simon, a player he showed to use very well even on clay. And don't forget that Simon is imho the most dangerous player on grass with Federer.

Little report about the SF against pidzi: Not one of my good matches, and the whole match was nothing really memorable. :p First set I had the better start, 2-0, he broke back for 2-2, but I had chances for another break and from the moment on he saved it and broke I was out of it. I was not calm enough during the whole match and let negative feelings get the better of me, which is not how you should compete in such match. In addition the match-up was not good for me, either, and then not at the top of your abilities you just do as much to keep the score somewhat respectable (did a better job than his previous opponents it seems :p).

The 3rd set stats (6-2 for pidzi) are quite funny: 4 winners by pidzi, 8 errors, to my 10 winners and 20 errors, average rally length 12.7. :yawn

Congrats to him, I hope the finalist will be fully into the final, whoever it may be.

For me it felt like a bad day in the office, easy to brush off and moving on to Hamburg and US Open Series, where I hardly have anything to lose (only a US Open QF because I did not play any other tournament last season in that timeframe).

As it seems the trend now is that the looser writes the report, let's do it

1st set : break for Richie, I was struggling despite a high intensity from both parts since beginning. At 4-2, I came back to 4-4, and had 3 sets points which I missed on his service at 5-4, 40-a. Just after, blackout on my service --> 7-5. I thought "ok this turns as the RG final..."

2nd set : he led 4-0, as I was really down technically and mentally after having missed these 3 set points. Finally I managed to recover, get one break back to make 4-2, but he broke again due to lack of focus once again, and he closed it 6-2.

3rd set : very close set, I managed to break at 5-3, I told myself the set was finished. Error : my level went down to 1000 elo, from 5-3 to 7-5, it was the circus on the court with airshots, mishots and so on, Richie just had to put the ball on court.

Congratulations to him, he deserved it as he was more regular ;)

Final Wimbledon :
Richie vs Pidzi : 2-6/4-6/5-7

I feel pretty happy to have won an epic number of 11 games, a lot thanks to Pidzi who returned as well as Tsongag today.
Not much to do in this matchup, I played my best match of my Wimbledon and there was not much better to do here but still it was like impossible mission. So, well, I don't even feel disappointed. In fact the points were balanced between us, but to make a point I had to take big risks while he could use my slowliness in comparison to Simon to wait and make the point with 0 risk.
Not much else to say, he almost gave me a chance to comeback in the second but I didn't really believe in the 4 BP at 4-5 at all, I knew he just had to be concentrated to be pretty sure to win the points he wanted.
Congrats to him for this title, I'll try to catch this Wimbledon I still can't have next year then !

PS : I've never complained about anything despite all the weird shots and things I have seen in my career but I think the banana shot cross should not be authorized to be used from the baseline. The effect is completely unreal (even for Nadal) and here with Simon it's a joke. I talk about this shot (almost no one use anyway) as I made a misshot on an easy banana shot at 5-5 in the 3rd 40-A which really pissed me off. The effect appears very late and that's not something you can expect as it should not exist in the first place. It was already very hard to keep up in the match, I didn't need this ! It didn't change the end which was crystal-clear from the very beginning of the match fortunately, but that's quite a ugly thing.
