short slice

Postby Sabratha » Sun, 19 Jan 2014 01:33

i was against my opponent and he constantly used the short slice after we were 1-1 in the game. i did not know it was illegal and so we kept playing and he ended up winning 6-1, 6-0, 6-0. every time i got a ball back he would short slice it so i would make an error and not be able to return it and he always cut my pace. i was wondering if this behavior is against the rules because a friend of mine on this site told me it was. thanks, much appreciated.

First: The Short Slice as combo shot is not a completely forbidden shot. It can be used to wake up the opponent and say "Hello, stay closer to the baseline!", like rarely per set.

Second: One also has to distinguish "Short Slice", the combo shot, and a normal slice landing shorter due to hitting it too late. The latter especially can happen quite frequently and cause problems to many players, especially beginners.

So, before making a claim about abuse of "Short Slice", one has to provide information like a .dmo file, where one can actually tell whether it was "Short Slice" or slice landing short.

To end this post let me clarify that matters about specific matches on the tour -- involving the opponent in that match -- should be discussed in private by sending a PM to the host of the tournament. The general discussion about short slices is ok.

ok thanks for clarifying, unfortunately i don't have a .dmo file so this can be locked and forgotten. i will remember it for my next match. yes i did not think it was forbidden so that is why we continued the match.

i also dont think he used it as a combo shot, as he rarely used anything else besides that. it was 1 strike after starting the point, for ex. i return and then he short slices, i return again and he keep short slicing back to me. i dont think it was unintentional because he always did it and it started when i was making the game/set on even terms on 1-1 by taking my service game after 2 or 3 aces in a row.

yep you should always have the recording option ON. it doesnt creates any lag as it creates very small files, and if you have any, just select the "buffered" option instead of realtime. .dmo's are mostly always required by tourney hosts regarding shot abuse matters, so they can check it properly. The .dmo files will grow in your demo folder, but then you can manually delete them from time to time, it's not a big deal.

hi all.
I've now found out about that.
I'm very sad about it just because that is all false. I 'm usually not rude, and i'm not a really good player too. But he lost just because he was very bad, the worst opponent i ever played.
He kept on playing 2-3 mt far from the line, and that wasn't kombo, just because i can't do that. There was just backs and slices, nothing more.

I will try to find the video of the match...
I really can't stand all of this

Someone has to accept to lose a match, nothing more

you usually arent rude even though you have just said i am the worst player you have ever faced? lol. you did the wrong thing by constantly slicing back to me and you know it. you were easy to pass and took advantage of me playing that far back by using the short slice constantly. the discussion has been ended for some time

and i was completely ready to accept i lost the match until i found out what you did was break the rules. it was completely clear after i took my service game and was making things even. if i was the worst opponent you ever played how come it was even until you started constantly short slicing because you need to cheat to win?

and to finish you have by far the worst serve of any player i have played.

it also seems like you are notorious for your bad antics here already sprock: viewtopic.php?f=1047&t=17887&p=246221#p246221

that's really crazy

man have u ever won a match on itst?that's really crazy. you kept on playing far from th court and they were just slice. I usually don't use slice, and i didn't use slice and back so match in that match, as u said , ...maybe 2-3 in a set.
I can't do this kombo, all players have played with me, know that i can't do that.
U can't say i used kombo, if u were that far from the line...u were playing with ball boys :D :D :D

'i can't belive it.U re luck i ve got no recording of this match, just because after have installed 1.16, i forgot to get on the recording on the game.
I've served with no itst buttom, just because i couldn't recive my serve, so i served between 170-180km

btw, u should start to accpet to lose. i say it again.!!!!!!!

and after this for me it's all closed,i want to end this discussion. That's tottaly untrue!!!

i've been on itst for a total of a month and have played 3 matches. in my first match i took a game from tomi who went on to beat don keep in mind at this time i was not even playing with the incredible level, i was playing at junior level, and i had been playing tennis elbow for about a week or so. you forget that i will keep improving and as a matter of fact you short sliced every point. they were not normal slices because they did not float long and you came close to the net to do these shots constantly. it felt aggravating and unfair during the match since you constantly did this, and i believe these are short slices, hence the name short slice.

you can play differently with other people and try to get a sneaky win here and there because you know you are against someone who is new to the tour and doesnt yet understand the rules. you cannot attack how far back i played because with a player like hewitt you cannot come in and as a matter of fact after i said i was hewitt you started these cheesy tactics in our match.

i would like to drop this issue as i see it as a learning experience for me and you have everything to gain from it because i cannot prove or disprove my statements. i do know the truth and thats all that matters.

Could you both just stop it ? Fernando forget about anything what happened in the match if anything ever happened and next time when you play an official match turn on RECORDING so then if you will intent to complain about whatever you want then you will have prove of what you are saying, now its like your word against Sprock so nobody is in right. And next time dont open a thread for complaining about some player but contact someone from management through PM.

And stop attacking each other its non-sense what you are doing here.
