Dear Vmoe/Djarvik

Just a friendly inquiry, not disgruntled or anything. I realize I have brought this up before, just curious as to the thinking....As the tour is a bit sparse these days, why not reduce the number of tournaments? In fact, why not remove the doubles tour altogether? Its a bit sad to see so many incomplete draws. During this slender period, if we reduce tournaments, at least they can all be filled. Yes, this may result in people not being able to join a tournament, but that is a good thing. It creates an environment wherein signups are a bit more precious. I just feel it may breathe life into the tour a bit to not be spreading the joinership so thin. I mean, wouldn't it be better to have 3 full tourneys (1 normal tour, one future, one challenger), instead of 5 running with tons of blank spots?

Just an idea. :D

You offending Cro Morgan, Isaldor and Pidzi.

I just looked at the draws. I don't see a way out TBH. If we have exactly 32 or less participants a week, for example, we can run one tourney with 32 draw. But as it stands we have about 36. That means that one tourney cannot accommodate it. Therefore 2 are made and one of them is 32 while second 16. Until the moment the number of participants is reduced to sub 32 we cant do much, we must allow anyone who wants to play - play.

I don't think doubles has anything to do with singles, but yeah, participation is very low there....and yet we do have 10 members that want to play it. So for now we will keep the occasional Doubles tourneys at 16 draw and allow them to participate.

We are not in a position to sacrifice participation for nice looking draws. That time for TE has passed...
Level 13 Edberg and counting...

Just a quick thought: what about qualification draws? I mean just running one tourney with 28 "normal" spots and 4 assigned to qualifiers.

Or one tourney with 64 spots and some walkovers at the first round for the highest seeds. That's basically similar to qualification draws.

Anyway, we could let the players sign up for all the ATP tourneys available for a certain week and then run the tourney with the most signups - of course, merging all the signups into that one tourney.

Perfect case in point, mexicano and dubai. Combined you have 27 players. Those two tourneys should be combined. Yes?

Yes, these two will be combined. We always did this from case to case. There is no golden rule to it. At times we had two Futures, I had to join many Futures and cancel one of them.
