Switching from keyboard to Xbox 360 controller - is it worth

Postby Kernkamp150 » Wed, 12 Jul 2017 03:13

I made it to 1700 elo but keep getting beaten by guys who move w the joystick on a gamepad. I was attracted by what inseedious wrote about how you can move diagonally much better than keyboard guys. At this point my game is solid but I feel like I might have plateaued with the keyboard. I'd really like to reach a higher level so I'm thinking about switching to xbox 360 controller even if it means a couple months adjusting. Is it worth it? Thoughts?

I only use keyboard and mouse in FPS games like CS GO, Doom and BF.
Games like tennis, football, basketball, I think it is very important to use a good controller.

Currently I use XBOX 360 and XBOX ONE control.

To play Tennis Elbow 2013 I feel I have more ACCURACY with the XBOX ONE controller.

I make my choice depending on the opponent.

If the opponent has a more aggressive style of play, I use the XBOX ONE controller because I feel that I defend myself better with it, the analogues are lighter and softer.

If the opponent is more defensive, I play with the controller of the XBOX 360, because I feel more firm to attack and I can be more aggressive in the counterattack. But that's how I feel.

It is like the racket in real life, you choose according to the situation, how you feel the opponent and also according to what you intend to do.

With a keyboard, you have a faster response, consequently you have an ability to move faster.

With a controller, you have more options of movement, you can make the circles of defense with more precision, in fact with more facility. Besides being more comfortable (At least for me).

My tip is for you to use an XBOX 360 or XBOX ONE gamepad. I believe that in a game of tennis, more freedom and comfort are more important. And I believe there is precision in the movements.

Controller doesn't mean higher level. It's just a different way of playing.

You can see how players like Pidzi have shown an incredible level with keyboard. I know we had two big examples, Richie and Vramvrim, dominating the tour for several years with controller, but controller users, even at top levels, are still a minority. If you are good with keyboard, there's no reason to switch to controller. In the months you would need to adjust to controller, you can improve a lot with keyboard.

To new starters, for example, I always suggest playing with keyboard, since it's more straight forward than controller. Controller is a lot tricky, you also need to find the right one to fully exploit your game. For example, I broke my controller many times just because of analog stick usage, and it happened during some finals too!

TE is a game were you often reach some points where you seem to be not improving anymore. That's normal, because sometimes you need a mental change instead of a skill one. Instead, you should always try to push your limits, and to do so I suggest you to play vs AI, setting a higher difficulty each time you beat it.

first of all as inseedious said its not about keyboard or joystick
its about when u hit the ball in the right time and ur movement should be good
I'm playing with keyboard and I was playing bad as a new player
but then when I playing everyday and learning and watching some top players matches on youtube , I got the key on how to play :)
my goal in 2015 was to reach 1500 elo that was my biggest dream , then when I improved in 2016 I said why not lets try to reach 2000 , and as u see today , I'm in top10 thnx god and my elo is 2712.
all these things becuasue I'm using keyboard and keep using this keyboard , u should never change
so if u want to choose one of them , u should choose the one which u will stay with it all the time so , I prefer keyboard.

thnx

Richie & Vramvrin are the two best players of ITST of the last 5 years and they play with controllers. Controllers is completely OP, it's like cheating.
