And the finalists are known: Robbin92 (Berdych) defeats VMoe86 (del Potro) 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and awaits TWM-Fox.

Well, what can I say? First of all, I gotta congratulate Robbin, he played on a very good level. He played tough on the break points, of which I had plenty. And he was a bit more fortunate than me.

First set I had triple break point early one, he escaped. Then he had triple break point, the last one he took and the set was over, no more break chances. But I sensed that Berdych is now the stronger character off the ground: With his animations and higher counter stat one can be more aggressive with him, so I had to play further behind the baseline.

In the second set I don't remember if faced break points, but I think I did, something like double break point I escaped. And finally I broke him, but it was on one of his (rare) errors on big points. I served it out, third set.

And I started well: Triple break point! But I simply could not get the second serves deep and aggressively back, on some I did errors. And as it is: He held and broke me in the following game. On the break point, he had a net cord roller, I got to the ball, but only could slice it back in play and guess at the net where his passing shot would go. :)

But I had further break chances, many on second serves, but I couldn't attack the second serve as I could against Elias the other day (keep in mind, del Potro now with new stats). In the final game, there were no more break points for me, so congrats to Robbin, you deserve to be in the final and maybe you'll get revenge against Fox! :D

Here are the stats:

QF: Fox def. Tonigno 6-2 6-0

Sorry for posting only now, didn't have time before.

Well i'm sorry for Tonigno that he wasn't able to battle more. I felt like he was motivated in the first set showing his fist but this was pretty short. I didn't need to be more aggressive has he simply took shots whole match.

I didn't really felt in danger playing against him, but sad that he could not proove me that i was wrong. Good luck for his upcoming tournament.

SF: Fox def. inseedious 6-2 7-6(3)

According to inseedious he hasn't played at his best level due to the fact that he missed some training those last days. I personally find the score pretty tied, even if the score doesnt show it in the first set.

I was waiting for a pretty tough match more than my first meeting with him, especially i played just after our first meeting with him using gasquet and he has done really great.

I managed to pull out the first set 6-2 which has gave me a comfortable position. Second set was harder to get his serve, i would even say impossible as he played a really strong game in the baseline. Impossible for me but not for him, he got the break at 4-4 leading for the first time in the set 5-4.

Indeed don't know if it was the pressure, the concentration but i break him just after, coming up to 5-5. I tried to fit to my serve and lead to the tie break which i managed to do. After my first break point in the tie break, i felt some frustration from his side who finally let place to pressure. I closed up the match with 3 match points on my hand.

I think inseedious has more to show up and his early round against Elias at US Open, could be a good test. My best wishes for him, reaching masters semi final proove that he is a good player and i think most of the player on the tour already considers him like a big danger.

My best wishes for him and see you soon

Great win for Robbin maybe best result for you so far, until the next one! :D

VMoe I feel you (0/6 break points myself), with 1/14 bp converted it is unlikely to win against good players like Robbin..

I had much trouble returning his high 2nd serves aggresively with placement too.

No need to feel for me. For pure entertainment ITST needs players like me bringing up such stats in matches. When I lose a tight match, expect something special (either from me or from my opponent). :P

I was stubborn on them. I had other options: Short slices, b1, short crosses with b1, top spin. I tried hitting aggressive returns, although I stepped slightly back on the 2nd serve -- that was my fault, lesson learned.

Robbin92 (Berdych) def. Fox (Federer) 6-7 7-6 7-6

Congrats to Robbin who won his first title, and not anyone, a master ;)

Pretty hard to keep the rythm in this match as its really hard to return Berdych serve and Robbin has the capacity to make his opponent sleep. I tried my best to accelerate but indeed his serve is too good and with a big forehand i could not do anything. He was truly leading the game doing absolutely what he wanted on his serve.

The only thing i could do its only try to stick to the score. Loosing the second set made me speed up where i got an early break but then his game made me again sleep where i even didn't realize how did i lost my break advance. Even the net was kidding me lol.

My stamina too short in the tie break i wasn't able to push good rallies anymore where he managed to get a match point taking my serve in the late tie break. Enough for him to serve and conclude just like he has done the whole game.

I have maybe few regrets as i didn't try to go to the net. I really worked hard those last day on improving this part of my game, unfortunate i didn't give a try, but the question was could i really try ? Also disappointed by the fact that i wasn't able to be a real danger on his serve, this was obviously the key of the match.

I think that match killed me more than any of the others. It enter directly to my top 3 just before my last big rally against Vmoe and my golden olympic final against Elias. I think after US Open i will need a long break, need to breath with all those war machine on the tour ^^

Congrats again for him taking his rematch on, the title and a big march into the world rank. Now i'm seeking for my rematch. I won't stay on that, see you all at US Open.

Wow what a day for me! First winning twice against Vmoe, then against Polca and at last this great apetheosis against Fox :). Thank you for all the amazing point, games and matches!

Robbin (berdych) 6-4 3-6 6-3 Vmoe (Del Potro)

My first match of the day was the semi-final against Vmoe.
Of course his Del Potro was nerfed yesterday so I was happy that I waited playing till today.
Because of this nerfing in the most of the rallies I could dominate and hit the ball deeper then Vmoe.

As the regarly slow starter that I am, Vmoe immediately created three breakpoints but I was able to espace and win the game. This type of game became typical in this match as Vmoe wasn't able to convert a lot, and then I mean A LOT, of breakpoints. However after my break he didn't got any chances to get back in this set.

In the second set it was me who had the first break chances, but Vmoe espaced before breaking me and taking the second set. In the third set the break point gala was on: I saved three in the first game to lead 1-0. I got lucky with a net cort and took a 2-0 lead. After that I had to struggle in every service game I had and I was facing a lot of break points. Somehow I managed to survice them and when I could serve for the match it was my first easy service game in this set exaclty when i needed it!

After this huge three setter I saw that Fox defeated Inseedious in the other semifinal and that I had a chance for revenge on our last match in Rogers Cup.

Robbin92 (Berdych) 6-7 (3) 7-6 (4) 7-6 (5) TVM-Fox (Federer)

It's funny to see that I have a different opinion on this match then Fox. I felt that I could do nothing, literally nothing on his serve and that I only could win points on his serve with guessing. In the first set we both didn't played at our best. I missed one break chance before going to the tiebreak. In the tiebreak Fox took an early lead before prevailing (3).

In the second set we both raised our level. Fox served at 76% and was hitting regarly the lines with these first services. On the other hand I improved my baseline play and had an amazing 30-9 winners/errors-ratio this set. I faced 4 breakpoints and I had one chance but we both couldn't convert. In the tiebreak it now was me who made a quick minibreak and could walk away (4).

In started third set with a lot of confidence and played two good points. But then Fox did put himself together and won some points in a row to make the first break of the match. At that moment I thought that it would be a miracle if I could turn it around. Fox almost double breaked but I managed to hold on to come back to 2-1. After that I started returning better and putting some pressure on his serve. At 3-2 the miracle happened. Due to some errors of Fox I was able to break back! I continued like a real Berdych then and took a 4-3 lead and a 0-40 at Fox his serve. He played incrededible on these points and he saved 5 breakpoints that game. Then it was time for the third tiebreak! We played some amazing points in this tiebreak, if I remember correctly the second point was the best point I ever played. I could get a minibreak due to a backhand error of Fox and I was, for the first time, cool and finished it at my first championship point :)

I'm very happy to win a tournament which such great opponents.
Let the Berdych-fever continue!

PS: I was in a few TS4 finals, but I lost them all.. But now I don't regret that at all, because now I won a ITST-tourney in a much better game and with much more fun opponents!
