Wrong footing is just going to the other way the ball goes, that's it no ?
Circle defense would be easier to explain with a video. From what I've understood it's the fact of, when your opponent has a good advantage, you go backwards before his shot and then go to the right or left. This way inertia isn't a problem that will make your character slow to start his run.

@Richie: Concerning the right positioning: Do you play with 3d or 2d? When you play with 2d, is it a challenge to you, when the camera angle is changing, since there are different (fixed) angles in nearly every court out there?

I play with 3d and i'm quite happy, but sometimes it's hard for me to see, if a ball is gonna be long or short - respectively i see it to late. That's one reason why my positioning is bad sometimes. I think, i have to play with different angles, maybe i find a better one.

I use 3d, the camera in 2d doesn't suit me in a general way, without saying it changes from court to court (even if you can modify some files to have the same court shown).
I have special settings for my 3d camera, I thought of them to see greatly if a shot is deep or not, now it doesn't mean it will suit everyone, it is quite special.
Here's what I see with my camera : http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/201 ... 13-011.png

OK, thanks for the screenshot. That's actually pretty much what i thought. My camera is pretty high and it looks almost like on TV. The higher the angle is the more difficult is it so see, where the ball goes - as it seems. I am playing with it, because it makes the game a little slower. But i will try to change it a bit, maybe it helps, even when i need time to settle down.

The ugliest way to play Tennis Elbow 2013. As far as I know there are 3 players who use this method of moving. Sorauze, Kworb, Sexysova. Last 2 are new, but sorauze has been always moving that way. Here check out these videos yourself and be a judge:

This is just the tip of iceberg. There are more hideous videos over here in this link:

Note the difference that these guys move back at straight line and then go left or right. They do it over and over again, but they also make sure to come closer to the baseline in case if you dropshot. Thus you get circular motion.
This is very different from what other good movers use, they move diagonally and never actually move back and run.
Anyway I hate this kind of movement.

The fake slice return is about the only thing that sorta bothers me right now, as it is truly ugly and done for no other reason then to exploit the game.

The running in "circle" thing is mostly pad related no? As on pad it is very easy to do the smooth circle running as opposed to the buttons. I wonder if there is a connection in "how" players move based on the control they use: Keyboard - left-right, Pad - circle.

Richie - great posts man. Thank you. :tu

It's true that the circle movement is really well adapted to the stick of a controller, it's probably easier to do something like that with it.

Very interesting thread, in which I'll contribute when I'll have more time ;)

Btw, I absolutely agree with Djarvik about the "slice fake return". I'm totally against that shot (sorry...Pidzi) because it's an exploit, it's ugly, unrealistic and it's a trick/glitch annoying to see. Nothing can defend that, for me it's nearly a cheat.

If there is a consensus between most top players, I think we should ban this serve return exploit for all official competitions.
