USA Davis Cup Team

The event where it's not about the players, it's about the countries! Talk about the great Davis Cup here.

2. Djarvik (12)
3. EZE 17 (17)
4. Sherlock (23)
5. Tim Tebowner (25)

so if these guys are all interest, this will probably be our team #1....then we could have matches within these 5 players to determine the lineup for each match....

sound good to everyone?

I agree that these 5 should be on the same team, but I think you should look at their record vs certain opponents to decided who plays who. That would be the job of the captain, whoever that is.

I also think you shouldn't necessarily go with the top 5 guys on team 1. There may be someone who didn't play the first few weeks and who is actually a better player.

I mean, If I'm on the A team, that's fine. But if there are 5 guys better than me I'd be fine going on the B team. Hopefully others would feel the same way.

What about balancing out teams? ...or, chose two Captains and conduct a draft?

Personally I would prefer an A team and a B team. In my opinion it would be better to have 1 team have a shot at winning the whole thing than 2 teams who realistically can only make it to the semifinals at best.

i think something like this would make 2 good teams that are both very good

Team A:
djarvik
sherlock
coolhand/other

Team B:
mike
eze 17
tim tebowner

in no particular order but looking at those teams i think they'd both be very good

I agree with Sherlock. The first priority should be assembling a team with the best chance of winning.

I agree with that also. I just think there should be a tryout in some kind of way. I guess people are saying that there is lots of new talent. Also isnt the ts4 tour relatively young?

I am interested. I play an all court game which would be good for faster surfaces. :)

I am in agreement with that we should have one team that has a great shot at winning it.

So how do we divide the teams up then?

Well, it's up to you how you want to do it. You can go the easy road and just use the rankings, but that is probably not the best way right now with how early it is. We don't even have a single grand slam in the rankings yet.

You need to keep in mind that once you set the A and B teams, you can never interchange the players (though you could add new players if a new player comes on the scene). So you would need to consider both players who are good now and who are serious about working on their game and will be a top player in a couple months.

I would say put the top 4 players on one team (however you figure that out) and then 1 player who is either a top player or who has a strong probability of becoming strong.

I would love to apply for a spot on the USA Davis Cup team, I feel like with school being over i'll be able to improve a ton.. Hopefully. I'll try and raise my rank a lot. Being a reserve is fine with me too. (:
Ryan Harrison - Defensive Baseliner - 0/8/12
Kei Nishikori - Offensive Baseliner - 0/12/8
Robin Soderling - Strong Offensive Baseline - 0/16/4

Calling it now; Kei Nishikori = Top Ten in less than 3 years.

We have 13 members for USA.

Here is my proposition for the teams:

USA Team 1: Captain-???? (Djarvik, Holla, or Sherlock??)
Hollaa Itz Mike
Djarvik
Eze 17
Tim Tebowner 15
Sherlock117
Garghamelli
Jayl0ve

USA Team 2: Captain (Jayl0ve, Coolhand?)
Coolhand
Julius Jackson
Kevin732006
dsavbeast
Banana Pancaekz
Raining Ameoba 79
InfamousSlappy

What do you all think? Having 6 and 7 people on a team seems a bit much for me. Should we try 3 teams?
