Davis Cup Update

The event where it's not about the players, it's about the countries! Talk about the great Davis Cup here.

Davis Cup Update

Postby Rob ITST » Sun, 02 Oct 2011 20:40

The latest on Davis Cup 2011:

The SIM format will now be a part of Davis Cup. The third match, which is normally doubles in "real" Davis Cup, will now be a SIM match. If any team would like to make changes to their lineup to take advantage of the SIM match, please post your changes in the Davis Cup Registration thread:

The NEW Davis Cup Registration Thread

We have started a new thread for countries that do not have enough members to form a team. If you are from one of these countries, and you wish to participate in Davis Cup, please post on that thread:

Not Enough Players From Your Country? Post Here

We have set a schedule for registration, as well as the start of the event. More info can be found in the Info/Rules thread:

OK, here's the deal:

It is not possible to have "no matches" in Davis Cup, at least not until the tie is decided. If one of the matches are not played, there is a possibility of a 2-2 tie at the end. It would be ok if the results were walkovers, but in the remaining matches I don't see any effort to play.

Sooo.....

If I don't see some sort of effort by players to get the matches played by next weekend, then the Xbox Davis Cup will be cancelled.

Note:

Checking PM's in Davis Cup is much more time consuming than in regular tournaments, and it's easy to miss one. So, if you have tried to contact your opponent and have not had any response - or, if you think for some other reason that you deserve a walkover- then send me a PM to let me know. From what I can see, there has been no effort for the remaining matches.

We're going to do things differently for the next round. Here are the changes:

You will have three weeks to play all matches. The first three matches must be played the first two weeks, the next two matches must be played the third week. It does not matter which order the matches are played (except, the last two matches cannot be played before the first three, because you will not know if they are "dead rubber" matches).

The big problem with the previous round was matches not being played. I tried to avoid "no matches" because it could result in a 2-2 tie for a round. So, if there are any "no matches", and it results in a tie, both teams will forfeit the round. You must have 3 wins to advance to the next round.

You will not use PM's to arrange your matches - it is too time consuming to check them. Instead, you will use the forums. I will create a thread for each tie (for example, Spain 2 vs France 1). You will use that thread to arrange the matches ONLY.

Just like the previous round, I need the captains to send me their lineups - Player A, Player B, and Player C (sim). Send them to me in a PM.

If you have any questions, post them here:

The first round is complete. I need all captains to send me their lineups so we can start the next round.

Like I said before, we're going to do things differently this time, so it should not take nearly as long to complete the next round (3 weeks, at most).

I only have responses from 2 captains: C4iLL and RAE1980.

I have to assume that there is not enough interest to continue Davis Cup on the Xbox.

Correction, I have lineups from 4 captains: C4iLL, RAE1980, Fifa Tee, adn Supermassy.

That's still only four teams, but it's enough to move forward.

I'll give the other captains until the end of the week before I release a new draw.
