Need your help for the next Update!

Postby djarvik » Wed, 15 Jun 2011 20:09

Guys, we need your help in recording and posting on YouTube examples of what you think is unbalanced in the game, examples of what you speak of in other threads. It will much easier for 2K if they can see a video of what we are talking about.

Players of all levels are welcome to post in this thread. We need to try and balance the game for the very best players as well as for challenger level players.

Right now I am looking for video examples of the following:

- 30, 40, 50 shot rallies
- SV dominance
- Missed "good" and "perfect" shots
- Returns that trigger the "move back" animation
- Power players being too effective or ineffective (I have heard both after update)

...and other balance issue, glitch occurrence that you may think should not be a part of the game. Make sure to discuss it in another thread first, to get an idea if what you experience "may" be an actual issue.

You can also post a video with a paragraph in this thread and we can sort things out together, if this is a strategic error you a are making, or an example of an imbalance.

I will link the best examples in my post and make the videos available to 2K Sports.

Thanks for your help! Remember, your feedback shapes the game! ;)

WOW

Yeah, recording actual videos goes a long way. Remember Sina and his videos with him getting 20+ aces in 3 games

It is easier for developers to analyze our videos then try to replicate what we encounter.

I'm thinking of getting an HDMI capture card - can someone answer some questions for me?

How do you see your match while you are playing? Do you watch on your computer monitor, or does the card send the video back out so you can use your TV?

Has anyone tried splitting the HDMI signal, running one to the card, and one to the TV?

Do you notice and lag when using it?

The only way for me to record is through a s-video cable and my old pinnacle studio pc tv ^^

Maybe I'm gonna try that even if I'm wondering about the same points as Rob

Any non-HDMI capture device is easy to record with on the Xbox - you just connect the composite or S-video cable to the capture device, and the component cable to your TV. The downside is that the Xbox cannot send a signal through the composite or S-video while sending HD through the component, so you have to play in SD.

Another option I might try is splitting the component video with a standard RCA splitter, but you also need a capture device with and HD component input....

I did a little research, and people seem to have good results playing on their monitor while running HDMI to the capture card. But, they only say that the lag is "not noticeable" if you have a powerful enough PC - "not noticeable" is probably still too much for TopSpin, imo. To be able to play in HD while recording, I think an HDMI capture card and an HDMI splitter is probably the best option.

more errors on shots that are late or too soon is more realistic surely, i cant see how can you complain about a mistimed shot being an error.

i have had several instances where a 'good' or even 'perfect' shot has been an error though.

If your positioning is wrong or your stamina is low then the second is not that strange either.

Well...doesn't low stamina basically place some kind of 'penalty' on the stroke timing??

So if you're able to deal with that 'penalty' and still get 'perfect' timing, I don't think it should ever go out. At least, with the game mechanics as they are now. I think you should be able to aim too long a la TS2 *BUT* since that's not a reality I think perfect shots shouldn't go out .

2K needs our help. After I submitted our latest suggestion list to them, they have requested to provide video examples of so me of the stuff on that list, to help better identify and address issues. The new update is in the works now and the more details we provide - the better they can address them.

We need video examples of:

1. Return of serve glitch
Need a video of this glitch from either perspective. A few returns will do.

2. Speed has to take a greater effect (low speed)
Video of a few rallies where a player with low speed rating getting to many balls back or similar. Best example would be a match-up of fast player VS slow player, but any video examples will do.

3. More errors on Low Stamina (still not enough)
Show long rallies where players are near empty or empty on stamina, but still able to rally rather comfortably.

4. Overpowered Slices
Examples where players are able to sustain rallies and win points by using slice only. Any other examples where slice is overpowered. Examples of Forehand slice winners.

5. Drop Shots
Examples of instances when drop shot is freezing a player even if he gets a decent shot of it. Examples of drop shots on the run.

6. Overpowered net play
Videos of overpowered net players. Well placed unsuccessful passing shot when it attacking position. Any other overpowered volley play.

If you have videos of anything else that you find "odd", please post them here as well. Anything you can do to help.

Any recommendations on how to film?

As a Def Baseliner literally every match I have vs an Off Baseliner is an example of the lack of importance of speed.

I can hit 3 or 4 perfect control shots in a row right into some awkward angles and Roddick or a created slow player can reach them and even make some great shots.

I find it frustrating that the only way to finish a rally as a defensive baseliner is to either score a drop shot (but they are often reached regardless of speed or depth of player) hit a power shot, volley it or get lucky with a mistake.

You should be able to wear a player out with low speed and stamina with all the crazy angles you hit and their ability to get each shot should be affected by the amount of stamina they have left.
After 5 perfect control shots all around the court a 50 speed player shouldn't be able to get to the ball, it's ridiculous how they can run end to end on no stamina and still keep the rally going until I come to the net and power it.
Blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground.

number 6 really needs to be looked at. played a guy on WT he would hit a return off my serve and come in, and there was nothing i could do, he could hit the volley any where on the court and make it a good one. didnt matter if he had any position or not.
