Newbie need help

Hi Guys,
I've just registered, as I until now only have played TS3 and that not-online due to that i have a Jailbreaked machine. but finally decided to buy another PS3 machine only for on-line gaming ( yeah it sucks ) but there is no way around it.

anyway.
as I have not been able to even start the TS4 game yet I cannot say that I know much about it expect that it is slightly simpler to play compared to TS3.
I have some questions:

1. how long time
I have played TS3 many hours to be able to get high in ranking so may player is decent to win something. my question is how many hours do you think it will take to make a decent player so I can join in here ?

2. Changing form TS3 to TS4
do you think I will have some issues adopting to the new TS4 ?

3. Doubles
Is there any Double matches here on ITST ?
me and my son(8) plays double matches on the TS3, and that is great fun even though now he is so good so we win almost all matches even on Very Hard. playing together with him is really fun so I do hope that can be possible.

4. PS Network
is there anything special I shall think of when registering to PSNW ?

1. On the easiest setting it will take you a couple of hour. Its a bit of a grind but if you finish one career completely you'll be able to make all the players you want.

Cant really comment on 2.

3. No, not anymore. When the game was at its most popular we did have enough teams. There are some guys out there that i am sure are willing to have some doubles matches.

4. No, i dont think so.

sad that TS4 have been loosing some players, read that up-dates had something to do with that.

but soon you will have a New guy to beat.
