What is Top Spin's obsession in using courts with shadows?

Seriously!? Tree shadows!? Is this honestly necessary at all for anything other than annoying people? I thought about this in TS3 a lot and then here we are in TS4 with more trees than ever it's like Earth Day in here! Really it's just an obstacle. What they really should add to give the game a little DEPTH is some spike-filled pits, some goombas to jump on and flatten, and a man in a hut in the middle of the court that pointlessly states, "I am Error."
