Trouble with 98 serve and 98 power

Postby MastAki118 » Tue, 19 Apr 2011 02:02

Every time i play these types of players on the world tour, they seem to be able to run down every shot even if they are well placed and timed consecutive control shots. They usually have a 40 in speed and 50 in reflexes.

Any suggestions would be great :)

Try to get some deep, low shots in. You want to make them time the shot so they can only get a perfect hit right after the bounce. A lot of these guys hug the baseline. If they stand further back, use a drop shot.

What braze said. They hug the baseline a lot, you need to hit deep shots that are difficult to time. I like to do a deep slice right up the middle, trading angle for a ball that gets right to the baseline. Same thing can be done with a control top spin, just be careful to do it at the right time because they can take a few steps in and turn it into a swinging volley.

I am not a push over most times, but yesterday I ran into a big server like that and he was Top Notch. Didn't let me breathe out there.

I tried everything, to no avail. Biggest issue I had was his returns. He was very efficient, but then again my serve is in 50's.

the only way i can manage to get at least a point or managed to win is to block (slice button) and hope for the best to relocate and hit the next ball. that is the only way i can do it.

Thanks everyone for the advise, I would try to mix it up with top spin returns deep, slice deep, slice short, but he would pick up everything. I don't have a problem with him holding serve, he was def top notch. but when i have control of the point he shouldn't be able to run down 6 consecutive points with a speed of 40?

@djarvik He def had really good returns, my serve was in the 70's. I held serve but he had much better returns than me.

Personally if i get a good return back even like 25% of the time, he should have a slight disadvantage on the ground. Which still enables him to hold serve because he was def good at serving.

@Sherlock I'm going to try some down the middle deep, i never tried that.

@braze I've tried drops with perfect timing but he's still able to run up and hit very hard, it was frustrating, I'll have to do better.

Thanks again,
