Yes, that's what i think of the game so far... both online and career mode.

In career mode (very hard) it's just impossible to wrong fot the computer, no matter what i try. The computer anticipation is just uncanny. this makes all the matches play out in just about the same way since there is no meaning in going up the line, if you do the computer will be standing there waiting for the ball.
And no mater if you play a computer close to your level or if you meet someone who is 10-15 levels below, they still hit as hard or harder than you or are as good as your best stat, whatever it may be..

Online, the game in some regards sucks even more, I had high hopes when reading the developer diaries pre game launch, with all the talk about balance in the game and the fact that no playing style would be favoured. YEAH RIGHT!
Every one I come across are hard hitting serve maniacs, and why wouldn't they be, that's by far the best style of play, but it's also the most boring style of play and it's why I tried to make a more balanced player but this results in a great deal of loosing, which i can take against a good opponent but loosing time and time again against these all power players takes the fun out of the game...

I played a game against a guy who's player had 100 power 90ish forehand 90ish serve and a decent backhand but this guy, despite having no points in volley, slice, reactions, speed or stamina , still played a nadal like defence game when he needed too, and then counter punched with a rocket groundstroke down the line. you would think that a few more unforced errors would have made it's way in to his game, but no... Or that his serve returns would not be as good as mine, or that when playing a defencive slice it would be a high slice that would have been relatively easy for me to put away, again no... :) There is more things wrong with this game but my keyboard is worn out now...

Ok that's a lot of complaining from me, hopefully someone at 2k reads it :)

you just have to learn defend more and the repositioning button is the key to success. i made a very defensive character and i manage to beat these heavy hitters most of the time by mixing up and having the "longer, better!" skill. it takes more time to win the point with them, but not more than nadal or wozniacki in real life :)

but the easiest style is of course big serve and lots of power. i hope in longterm the big winners of this game are guys who mix it up well with baseline, netplay and have brains to construct the point.

I'm using control shots a LOT more now... it's helping give me more time to reposition in a neutral spot on the court. I use an all around player as well, with a slight edge in offensive baseline skills. The coach I use though is gonna boost my defensive skills. My power is sub-70 but I can still rally with the power smash players bc of court smarts.

Play the angles and slices and learn to use control shots to "reset" in a sense.

Granted I'm not THE best defensive/all-around player, but my WT records have been pretty solid and I've run into a few guys on here that can give me trouble, but it's about tactics.

I agree with what you both are saying and i'm using control shots almost exclusively against the power players, but it's frustrating that the game is so unbalanced... i'd love playing close intense matches with longer rallies but
now it's all about the x button so to speak...

Of course these power players exist on the real atp tour but they are not very succsessful since they make so many unforced errors, but in the game it's easy enough to time the shots, and thus having high power gives an unfare advantage.

Id really like there to be som sort of restriction power wise on the itst tour :)
