Always waiting for Direct Match bug

Postby embee25 » Wed, 23 Mar 2011 10:11

Just wondered if anyone else had encountered this issue.

Every time I went to play one, there would supposedly be about 20 plus players waiting but then when I went into the pre-match lobby there was no one else there and during the one-minute countdown no one joined me.

This happened countless times and to say it is extremely frustrating is an understatement.

In total I must have wasted at least an hour trying to get a direct match.

I am playing on the Xbox 360 and had this all evening yesterday. I see embee is signed up for the PS3 tour so i am guessing his platform is the PlayStation 3. So it appears to be a multiplatform problem.

Yep, same thing happens to me...not every time but once in a while, it'll say like 20 players waiting, then i enter and there's nobody....also, a few times ive gone in and it immediately searches for an opponent (idk if i happened to be in there when the timer hit zero) and it never ends so i have to reset the game and get a loss....they really need to fix it cause im getting losses left and right.

Yeah, I'm on PlayStation - sorry should have said earlier.

Sounds like this is a multi-platform issue though.

I've also had the freezing problem where you have to restart and take a loss. Again, very frustrating, even more so when it happens in a tournament match.

Is there a specific forum thread, email address etc where these technical problems can be reported to? I haven't seen anything of that kind on the 2k forum.

We have compiled all bugs in a document and its going to be sent to 2K tonight. And they are on this forum. So this bug is known at 2K. Hopefully they can resolve it.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to post a copy of the list on these forums, so that everybody knows what problems are hopefully going to be taken care of. Otherwise lots of people will start posting "has problem A been fixed, what about problem B etc etc."

Thanks for the reply, Slicer, that's good to know that the issue will formally be brought to 2k's attention.

And I second Capriati fan, if we could see the list of the issues raised that would be really helpful.

I am sorry, but we wont be publishing the list. As Slicer has indicated, 2K is in contact with us and are on this forum on daily basis. They will be addressing issues on a priority basis and will issue patches. Last thing we need is to post a list out of which only a few things get fixed at first and you guys going into terrorizing the developer on ITST forums.

Believe me when I say this, ITST will make every effort to resolve all issues that are currently present in the game. Just remember, some of the issues are core game play related and may not be as easily fixed.

I hope two on the list are:

1) That damn running glitch when it cuts out intermittently when trying to rally. - really ruins the game and makes it much harder to win obviously

2) Giving a loss when you win or during a game

finally.. just a thing ive noticed about the match making bug is that it often - not always - happens when the room has 8/8 people in it.

Hi

I have the same problem on xbox360. Mostly when I wanna play a fast game I see many players waiting in the lobby, then the system starts looking for an opponent, but the problem is that this takes very very long sometimes. Then I can't press any button on the cotroller, all is blocked and I have to restart the console.
Hope they will fix that problem in an update...
That's very annoying, apart from that the game is really good.

The same bug ruined top spin 3 for me. I used to play intertopspin tour around 18 months ago but just could not put up with the inability to connect to the servers. I thought I'd see if things had improved with '4'. Sadly it's a new game with the same story. I have played 32 world tour matches and have 12 losses, 10 of which are due to either freezing or stalling indefinitely at the 'searching for opponent screen'.
I'd like to know from somebody directly affiliated with 2K the following:-

A) They recognise an issue exists
B) A patch will be released.

I have read that various members of this forum have spoken on behalf of 2K. It would be fantastic to have an official response, it would mean that I and possibly others would hold on to their copy of TS4 in the trust that things will improve.

Congratulations on what is a fantastic game,

Chris.

This problem of freezing while trying to connect to an opponent appeared to have eased over the last few days but it was back with a vengeance last night.

It took me close to three and a half hours to play five matches last night, three of which were direct matches and the other two were straight forward 6-1, 6-0, 6-0 results. One I won, one I lost.

This really does need sorting out.
