is there doubles online ranked or otherwise in this game? About to purchase this in the next 3 hrs

I think you can play doubles online in a player match. Haven't played any other online mode yet to know.

Yes you can play doubles matches online (2 consoles only, so you need a partner with you at your Xbox), no there is no ranked doubles, sadly.
