To represent your progression through the Top Spin League, we have defined eight statuses: newcomer, rookie, new talent, young gun, rising star, star, superstar, and legend.

Sounds like a cool reference to Top Spin 1 to me. 8)

Yikes so you can only play 12 tournaments a year max?! And you can only play 2 out of 4 weeks a month?? Why can't we just get a realistic sim of the world tour,i mean they boast how immersive and authentic this game is and how much of a true sim it is yet the give us an "intuitive" and 'creative" career mode in attempt to be original?

I wasn't expecting another dev diary until wednesday or thursday.

I'm gonna be too eager to play exhibition matches to get XPs and coaches. Straight to the tournies I go!
Seems I can't cross that threshold just yet :(

They need to balance having an immersive career without having it be too tedious to complete a character.

In my opinion, their career mode has always been ok, it was just the fact that you had to complete the whole thing for every new character you wanted to try. Now that they have finally figured that out, they "could" make a longer career. However, I think this will turn out to be just fine. If I can complete the career in about 10 hours the first time I will be happy.

This is great, talk about listening to the public about an in depth career mode. WOW! Will we be able to set the rules for tourneys in career mode?

If u look at the screen shot it makes sense... and looking at TS3 you get to play one more week out of the month so it's a step forward. I agree with Sherlock too, a realistic sim of the world tour would be too tedious...talk about data overload. As long as we get the slams and other major tourneys I'm good. If you want a realistic sim of the world tour, join ITST! lol:P

I say thumbs up :tu to the new career mode. They've added a lot more aspects (fans for one as well as the coaches...) to make it more interesting and creative so they weren't lying.

But see that's the beauty of it....simpily play a smaller schedule. Just because their would be an overload of "data",doesnt mean you have to compete in every single thing. You pick smartly what you want to play and what you want to skip....just like real life. It worked beautifully in the Smash Court series as well at WTA Tennis.

Or maybe for the next installment they can do something similar to recent WWE game,in that they have both a 'career' mode as well as a seperate "world tour/story" mode. The former being a means to build up created characters through challenges etc, while the latter being a full on sim of an actual tennis tour.
