I'd play against the comp first... then ask some of the higher up guys to hit and help you progress. I know a couple of guys that helped me out with my timing and gameplay (strategy, etc.)

exactly! A lot of players don't like the training academy, but it's good for when you first start...

I had no idea about the tour when I first purchased the game; therefore, the only thing I could do was play the career mode. Made a huge difference, once I joined the tour I was able to instantly compete with most players and go deep in tournaments.

I feel most people start playing online waaaayyy too fast and just max out there players using the loop hole which exists.

Im not comparing the two..!!

Just wanna say that NHL is very difficult to master.....but really master since u use both sticks and almost every button on controller.

It was by far most advanced control method so far for me.

Hope tennis isn't more difficult. :))

With Top Spin 1 and 2, I had most success with playing with the computers first. I started to understand the movement of my characters; and, most important, my goal was to find the strongest sim technique that afforded risk-like ground strokes (powerful and consistent shots)!!

I found this for Top Spin 1, Top Spin 2, and Full Ace Tennis Simulator. I was starting to find a method for Dream Match Tennis as well (but I retired and stopped playing).

So, I recommend finding the best sim play that gives computer players trouble and "copy and paste" that performance online! :)
