Roddick was only taken as an example of strong setup. Hell! I could have used Murray!

And in all my posts, I was using Roddick as an example for the same reason...

Roddick is the king, no one can come to close beating roddick, it is simply impossible. Chuck Norris tried to beat roddick once, chuck ended up six feet under. Therefore roddick is without a doubt the baddest badass on the planet

I think Agassi is a monster in the game too :-) I have yet to win a match against a very good ITST player who played Agassi and me Wawrinka :-)

But how is that different from the custom players? You're still going to have 30 with basically the same setup, 10 more that are the same, etc. They'll look different and have different names, but the matches are still basically the same.

My main reason for wishing we'd see a pro tour (which I've never supported before) is that I think it'd be fun. TS4 has a nice roster, with a lot of legends. It's fun to play the dream match-ups like Agassi vs Sampras, Nadal vs Federer, Lendl vs Chang - match-ups that were never possible on a game before.

I think we do have to mention that the pro characters are a little overpowered in a way.
I've seen people being amazing with the pros as they have 3 skills not 2 like the customs.
And they struggle with the customs.
I think that the custom characters need more skills from the player itself. Because of their 2 skills only. It's is maybe a handicap which makes the customs actually cool to play with.
A serve beserker can hit ace after ace. But in the rally he will lack a lot of things.

And as I said certain pros have about 20 points less then the other. I will play with Wawrinka. He will automatically be less good. Setup wise. I wouldn't mind the challenge but with custom this won't be the case.

I just played a match with Mack. He had a big hitter . Me more an all rounder. We had a heavy match that went 6-4 1-6 6-4 . He had the more powerful player. Yet we both had 540 so in the end both can win. My timing just had to be perfect on all the shots. Which I wasn't able to do in the second.

So a pro tour would be funny. Yes there will be match ups with legends. But they are def. not more balanced if you ask me. Why not just make your own version of pro characters...

And with the customs there are certain setups that work best. But I have yet to have seen my exact setup. And a single hander etc. Some similar setups yes. But not the exact.

And for example Hola It's Mike plays with a setup I can't play with with coachs that don't do it for me . I wish I could cause he is great with it .

One thing I do find good with the pros is that the crazy short cross rallies are harder to pull of with certain character. But with Agassi Nadal and Simon and Davydenko it is possible which makes them monsters directly :-)
In the customs those rallies are happening as well. Maybe a little more.

The pros aren't overpowered if you're just playing people who are using other pros.

Even if some guy who sucks with customs is able to play better quality tennis (shots closer to the lines, serves in the corners, etc) with pros, imagine what some guy who doesn't suck with customs will be able to do. Way cooler, better things than the guy who 'sucks' with custom characters.

Basically I'm just saying the same guys will still win, it ain't gonna change anything, there's not gonna be some huge paradigm shift, you weaker players out there aren't suddenly going to be DOMINATING or anything  Personally I just think it's less stressful and more fun (IMO) to play as the pros. I hate worrying about custom characters personally

This quote from Rob sums up my thoughts exactly. It will be great fun trying to win with agassi against sampras/becker v lendl, fed v nadal, murray v djok etc

I am not really against having ALSO a pro tour.

But I don't think there will be many advantages.

I personally don't think I suck at TS4 so far Jay :-) And even do a pretty good job with Stan against the "better" players/ setups.

But the fact that if it's different with custom characters. As I said before . There is enough variation in the setups. And the better people get the more variation there will be. Maybe even more then with the pros.
I have to agree with Djarvik on that one. There will be 3 main players or so. And those will be 100% the same :-)

It would become the same as in DMT. And as there will not be any new players added ( I think ? ) it might get dull very soon.
Maybe I am wrong.

Jay, where did this come from? no one is saying anything about weaker players dominating.

And dude, you have only used 2 pros for now, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions just yet. Wait till you play the full game, pros are not ballanced, far from it.

I understand you thou, this is a "VT thung" and I liked it too. It might work or it may not. We never did a full blown Pro tour, day in and day out. It might get boring with same players being used.
