I'm glad they're gone. The last two top spins have had terrible online gameplay for the ps3. Terrible matchmaking and terrible connection problems.

And TS4 had pathetic glitches that should never have been released with the game and should've been immediately patched.

I hope EA's grand slam tennis is not just an arcadey wii style mess.
From what I've heard it's not just a wii port but i'm a bit weary since tennis isn't very popular nowadays.

well he's from the USA, and there tennis is maybe the 5th sport or so in terms of fans, i guess that's why he says that.
American football, baseball, ice hockey, basketball have more fans than tennis in the US, don't know about golf
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

NFL, NBA, Baseball, and college basketball and football all rank above tennis in the US.

And the US is a major market which combined with the fact that tennis is not the #1 sport in popularity anywhere else with very little presence in Asia makes it difficult for a game developer to invest money in a non-casual tennis game that will appeal to more hardcore fans.

You forgot about golf -- golf is a niche sport in the US, but it's still more popular than tennis. There's a reason every single golf tournament is on a network and only Grand Slam tennis tournaments are (Tiger Woods helps a lot, but it was like that before Tiger Woods and it will continue to be that way after him).

Tennis is just way down the scale of sports Americans care about, and since most companies develop with the United States as their primary target market (and like you said, Asia is generally the secondary market and sometimes the primary market, and tennis is nowhere close to being a major sport there either).

Also forgot about NASCAR. I believe that's the most popular sport in terms of number of viewers per season? Could be way off there, but I remember hearing that somewhere a couple years ago.

Apparently the 2nd most popular participating sport in the world is badminton, due to how popular it is in Asia.

I can say that by TV measurements of sports transmissions here in Ecuador, number one sport by far is Football, and number 2 is TENNIS. I was amazed by the results but it makes sense, because we have a small country but we have had 3 very important tennis players that have helped create a lot of tennis fans around here.

We had Pancho Segura , he was number one in the world in 1952.

Andres Gomez who was ranked 4th in the world in the 80´s and kept in the top 10 for many years, also won Roland Garros in 1990.

And finally Nicolas Lapentti who was ranked number 6 in the world at the end of 1999. (Nicolas is playing Pete Sampras this saturday here in Ecuador, if I go I will send you guys some pictures, maybe even going to the cocktail party tomorrow)
