the new tennis topspin 4, it even has finally Netzroller and frame proposals in tennis rackets. The ball direction is reportedly also affected with the left analog stick. sounds interesting. This was written in a preview of the Gamepro (German magazine). It was praised u will be the best tennis game.

In this preview, they're comparing Top Spin 4 to Street Fighter (should make some of our Street Fighters happy). :)

Some of the text:

While most tennis games are content to be arcadey and accessible, the Top Spin series has always gone deeper and more sim-like – for better or worse. The “worse” was arguably Top Spin 3, whose controls were so “realistically” complex that only die-hards could survive on the court. The “better” looks to be Top Spin 4. The entire play interface has been overhauled, returning it to the simple one-button-press gameplay of its contemporaries. Don’t think this a step backward, though: the goal this time around was to make something of a fighting game masquerading as a tennis sim.

It is, of course, a delicate balancing act. One of the things that has made the more cartoony fare on Nintendo systems and publisher Sega’s venerable Virtua Tennis games so pick-up-and-play-friendly has been the fact that one doesn't necessarily need to know how the game works to start proper volleys and ace serves. Top Spin 4 is looking to ape that accessibility without sacrificing a deeper game – hence, the fighting game analogy. An experienced Street Fighter 4 player, for instance, is still executing the same basic moves as a newcomer, but they've layered in strategy of movement and timing to the point where they wipe the floor with noobs. They haven't necessarily done anything different from lesser players, they just do it better and understand the mechanics in a way that gives them the edge.

... that only die-hards could survive on the court  so true.

once again the spirit of the game seems to be the right one,.. SIM but making it easier than TS3, sounds good.
In my book a good SIM game is not equivalent to high difficulty in managing your player.
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

They'll have the bald Agassi... the "vintage" you get when you preorder.

More from Stephane Dupas, Prez of 2K Czech:

GamingUnion.net: Can you tell us a bit more about the career modes?

Stephane Dupas: I can't say much about this, but what I will say is that in all Top Spin games, there are always things offline and online. It works if you're playing alone or with friends and in Top Spin 4 you should expect to find the same. The career mode will be new, the online competitions will be new as well.

GamingUnion.net: You've got the fatigue system in there, which is great for the genre. Does it decrease throughout matches or is it just on a point-by-point basis?

Stephane Dupas: Yes. So the way the fatigue works is, you have sort of your reserve for the match. And then, in each of the rallies, you consume it a little bit. So, the lower you are at the end of each rally, the lower it is at the beginning of the next point. So you have fatigue for each rally and fatigue for each match.

GamingUnion.net: So does the fatigue system lower your stats or does it just make you less accurate?

Stephane Dupas: Well firstly, it makes you run and change direction more slowly. So, your player is much less responsive. It also affects the control you have, so if you're trying to slam the ball really hard and the context is quite bad, you have more chance to miss your shot and lose the rally. So it does those two things.

GamingUnion.net: Does the surface you're playing on affect fatigue too?

Stephane Dupas: No, we haven't implemented that in this game.

I'm inferring that to mean all court surfaces are the same speed... clay is slower than hard court, hence longer rallies, hence greater stamina drain in theory, so stamina should definetely be affected according to surface :(

...but that doesn't mean that the surfaces play the same. It only means that you wont get more tired on clay then you are on hard court. Unless the rallies are longer.

To be honest, the question was kinda dumb. Surface itself doesn't drain stamina

Yeah i see. A 20 stroke rally on clay should be as as tiring on clay as hard court. But having more 20 stroke rallies mean your stamina will be overall lower.

That is a big question. 20 shot rallies on Hard court should be near impossible, rare. While on clay, fast points should be harder to execute.

From all the sliding in the videos, we just may get the "right" clay court experience. Hard court and grass remains to be seen.

I also would love to have all the variations in hard courts. Indoor vs outdoor, faster versus more bouncy, etc..

blah, I don't know. I don't have a good feeling about TS4. I fear it is going to be far too simplified. Hope I'm wrong.
