- Swing the air
- Frame it
- Net it
- Take on a chin

Sorry man, I disagree, a drop volley that is not going to become a sitter is very hard to do. Granted, directing volley deep into the court and controlling the Net play is hard as well. What guys that are "not natural volleyers" do in real life is equivalent to X(slice volley). It is rather short, nothing on it and usually is not well placed.

Just to add something in this discussion, have you ever noticed that some short control volleys, when perfect timed, can be very similar to drop volleys? I realized that playing this week using a good volley stat.

How do you know this, did they forget to turn off all their displays??

I'm talking about pros, BTW....not amateur players. I don't really see many pros completely whiffing the ball.

hahaha

What I meant to say is that a player that is not comfortable at net "reacts" to volleys rather then "control" them. And drop volley is the most difficult "control" volley in real life.

BTW, top part of my post was a joke.

I don't think drop volley for every shot at the net is THAT unrealistic. I went to the sony erricson to watch Tsonga play and nearly every volley he hit was a drop volley. It may be ineffective and annoying, but I don't think it's unrealistic.

What next? You can't cross serve, stand behind the base line to far, drop shot volley, drop shot in general etc.etc.etc. All are cheesy play you all say. Now I agree on the coaches so that it is already more far to play. But every time you get an edge on the other player, it is could cheesy? The players who are already good will beat every player no matter what they do. If you are better then me, I will drop shot, cross serve, stand al the way back on your serve, drop shot volley your ass all the time. Cheesy? Who cares, it's better then play boring games with 100 strokes for every point. So, if you are any good, you will kick my ass and that's fine with me (I loose enough), don't start crying like a 2 year old that it is not far to play like that.
Stop with the rules beyond the coaches and let the player do his thing.

I agree that 100 on strokes etc is rather cheap too. But that's not what this thread is about really.

I believe you didn´t get the idea of ITST. We want to play TS4 here the closest to real life it can be. I joined the site because I really find boring playing WT, where it seems sometimes that I´m playing street fighter with rackets.

I´m not a top class player, but I don´t mind loosing a honest game. To play here the same way a lot of guys do in WT just to win by any cost, it would make ITST pretty useless. And sure, I could be a great cheater to tramline serve with zero power and drop shoot in the third ball all the time. I just don´t want to do because this is F... BORING!!!

Is the game perfect, closest to a real simulation? Not at all. Can we try to make things better? For sure. Want to play here? So give a credit for what this guys have been doing for the last years instead of just arrive and criticize what the majority here suppports.

Who said anything about the people on ITST. Read better and then don't start using the **** word. Yes we are old enough to use the whole word and not like the 2 year old F.......

Like I said, stop building up rules after the coaches choice. I think that is all you need to do to make it more fun then playing the 100p, TI/MD set up etc.etc.

What if Nadal played Federer and he won with a game with only drop shot. Do you really think that he won't do that again because it was cheesy?

And just because I'm new I should shut up for you? Your more stupid then a 100p player.

You made a GREAT point there. Why doesn't Nadal ?? It's just impossible to pull off. But in TS4 it is. We try to simulate what is also possible in real.
You just cleared up what we are talking about all along :-) Thanks.

First of all, show me just 1 real match where the player used just drop shots in all points. Or a single´s match with a player serving from the tramline without any power...

I´m so new here than you, but I decided to join ITST because I agree with the forum ideas. What you are suggesting is, IMO, a step back in everything this site tries to offer.

Dude, I´ll won´t make it personal, because this could start to be a public argue that won´t lead us anywhere. But think about what is real tennis and what is the intention of the managers of the site.

Again, nothing personal...

You are right, it is impossible to do it in real time.
I don't use the cross serve or drop volley, and I don't use any forbidden coach on ITST. I don't use these coaches on WT, and so I win about 75% of my games on WT. If there is a dumb ass 100p - TS/MD - MD/PS I will play all the cheesy shots. Yesterday in a ITST match a player asked me if he could play the cross serve. I said no, because ITST don't want that. But it is more a gentleman request then the law isn't it. So if he wanted, he could do that right?

Honestly the cross serve is?? Serving from the tramline??

If something is considered cheesy that is against the rules. So it's somewhat out of respect to your opponent but cheesy play is forbidden in ITST.
