Would it have even been worth it?

P.S. - TS4 is DEFINITELY going to be better than TS3!! Are you kidding me?? The amount of detail they've put into it, as well as all the enhancements to the game modes, bringing back the old star-superstar-legend rating system, boosting the online play, extra creativitiy with the characters, I could go on all day listing all the things they improved from TS3...

Are you guys trying to psyche yourselves out and say that it's not gonna be that good so when you actually buy it you'll be more excited if it is good?

I don't get it, all the info they've shared and dudes are still like "meh :|"

You can't please everybody...

I think you CAN please everybody - if you delivery a solid product on release day. I, and others, have been around gaming way too long to put too much thought into all the pre-release attention games are given. Ditto with demos.

Two of my favorite PC franchises, Total War and Civilization, had two of the most ridiculous pre-release campaigns that I've ever seen. Even the demos weren't bad. Then Empire: Total War and Civilization V were released, and the respective gaming communities went from euphoric to utterly depressed and suicidal. The games were horrible. Civ V still is, Empire was horrible until it was patched repeatedly for 8 months after release.

So of course I'm excited. I think everybody is. But until the final release disc is in my PS3 and I can evaluate the entire game, I'm not going to say anything about it being the "best tennis game ever" or even the "best top spin game" ever, because that just sets me up for disappointment again. It looks promising, though, and I really hope they deliver.

i understand what you mean but dont forget that you wont find any more "elitist" tennis game crowd than here. So it is a bit obvious that we will all try to see what works and what doesn't.
If everybody who played the demo only reported things like "it's fantastic", "its better than ts3", etc. then that wouldn't give us that much info on the mechanics of the game, would it?
I think most of people here knew that we would get a better tennis game but also knew that it'll have its drawbacks and bad sides.

Nick, since you put it that way (i.e. suicidal and depressed ) I can understand then why you'd be a little skeptical and not completely gung-ho...

Tenjin, I'm not looking for everyone to be "YAAAYYYY" about the game because that's not realistic... but ppl talk about the lack of a full tour when the top spin series NEVER had full all-out tours in their games. Maybe Smash Court Tennis is the only game I've seen with a true to life FULL tour schedule. You could play 30+ tournaments a year if you wanted. But Top Spin has always been "you play one week out of the month" so for them now to be giving two weeks of playtime is a big plus.

The bad's gonna come with any game yes, and I'm sure there's gonna be frustrating cheese tactics, new updates and patches as we go along, but my thing is the detail in this game and the intricates (not looking at mechanics yet) have really been pumped up. In terms of the mechanics, they look great too! However, a final decision can't be made until we get a chance to PLAY the game.

yeah, we are definitely picky elitists when it comes to tennis games, though. I just hope they strike a good combination of fun/realism. It has to be both for me to keep playing!

Also, I really hope that all the work they've done outside the actual "tennis" in the game, i.e. the super improved career mode - isn't overshadowed by a crappy tennis game. But from early reviewers of the demo, it doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe they can patch it to provide more errors, though. That seems to be the main complaint so far...

oh no! haha. are you a member of civfanatics? It's kind of like the same kind of site as ITST is for tennis. The community has already basically rejected the entire game.

I went back to Civ IV after like... 3 days. :D

I loved all (previous) Civ games too. It's my favorite franchise along with Total War.

And totally agreed, RTW is my favorite of all time.

On the women's side, Serena's serve is one of the best. Keep in mind they probably alter the women's playing characteristics so compared to other women, her serve is better, but not better than the men's.

But wtf, how do you know TS4 is the most realistic game ever!??

The game is not out yet....

I was thinking the exact same thing. No one knows anything, except for what the developers want you to know - and you gotta figure a good bit of that is just what they want you to think you know. :idea

 yeah, I messed up this one. What I mean is that Top Spin series is basically the only one on console that is close to SIM. Since there is no other choices - the winner is kinda clear.
Plus I got really annoyed by Nardy2010, especially considering spending my evening in The Garden watching Mac retire and Agassi "walk" thru the match!

Please the Smash Court series is far better(especially the earlier version SMC 2) and is just as "sim" as this....

I think what turned people off about Smash Court 3 was the players felt somewhat sluggish and the models had a plastic look to them. Otherwise, the gameplay pacing was excellent, the fatigue system was realistic,it had true signature shots for every pro, they had a shot spot/challenge system and a realistic sim of the world tour(compelete with qualifying draws, sponsorship challenges, fan letters, interviews and challenges).

Umm yea,its not coincidence that SMC 2 was a top bestseller for the PS2,maybe you should go and do yourself a favor a replay the game(and keep in mind this was made back in the mid 2000s!!!)....
