Head to Head Impressions

Postby Hollaa Itz Mike » Fri, 04 Mar 2011 20:15

Whats up guys? i miss the fun days of ITST on top spin 3 and am so pumped for top spin 4..

I was pumped when the demo came out and struggled at first but can no win 7-0 almost every time on hard, u are all correct, the difficulty is not hard enough, but hopefully the very hard difficulty will be in the game and will make the career more interesting. My college roomate also plays top spin and is not as skilled as some of the guys on here but is good at the game.

Impressions from Head to Head:
- we started out as him as Fed and me as Nadal and he had no chance of winning any baseline points. The speed of Nadal is so useful. I have a feeling that if you want to win on the tour you are going to have to have a fast player.
- I was beating him easily after a while, so i tried coming into the net a lot, and things got even easier. I am worried that the net game is overpowered in this one.
- Rallies with 2 humans playing in this game are extremely fun. Such a mind game, just like a real tennis point.
- My biggest complaint in top spin 3 was that the serve was overpowered and that it was too easy to hold serve. It was not fun having to hit risk returns every single time. The outwide slice serve specifically got on my nerves. The serve does not seem to be overpowered in top spin 4. But i did want to ask? has anyone tried using the outwide slice? is it still a little overpowered? I was hoping that it was not since the only advanced serve was a flat serve.

Any other questions about head to head just let me know... i think we have a great game here..

What you said about speed and net play is exactly what I think...

I think that speed is going to be more important for a baseliner than power this time, and winning points at the net is soooooo damn easy (while it seems to be relatively hard to win a point once your opponent attacks the net) that it would not be a surprise for me if every top player would SV 90% of the time (the serve might not be as easy to execute as in TS3 but after only 2 or 3 matches I was already able to hit the lines with Serena (serve 80) wiith every serve-type most of the time, so it is still not difficult to serve well if the serve stat is just high enough (and it is not that much harder with Fed or Nadal), while I simply could not find a single return that puts at least some pressure on the server, so I think breaking serve is going to be extremely hard again).

i did not use the stick serve in top spin 3..so i wasnt even aware that you could hit a powerful slice serve with the stick at first...but i see your point about the serve possibly being too overpowered again...i am really hoping it is not..i could really care less if it was easy to break serve...i would rather have a fun tennis game with a little bit of realism then a completely realistic one

I'm finding it hard to get to the net fast enough to hit a 1st volley. End up hitting this tap slice thing, might be to do with the depth of the ball.

Same here. I get frusterated when sometimes the player doesn't hit the "transition to the net run" shot. Sometimes the guy will hit the approach shot while running forward, sometimes he won't. I know it has a lot to do with what direction you are holding and balance issues, but even with those relatively perfect it seems to sometimes be a random thing.

I Thought it was just me. I'd hit the approach and the movement enhancer button and it would be like my character had to think "what does that button do... oh yea CHARGE!!!!"

...half volley fail

OUT!!

ya i just expiremented with what you are saying about the lag when trying to go up to the net...i only experience the lag after a serve..but i do not experience it when hitting an approach shot.....

also when it comes to fatigue...me and my buddy were just hitting shots back to each other for like 25 shots before we starting playing legit today..and after so many shots your fatigue is hurt, and if u have a shot with bad timing it was going out...so i have hope there

Really?

I've hit quite a few return winners already...I even hit a return winner with a Control Shot slice deep in the corner.

on Hard, of course

Norberto is OVER!

Seriously thou, I got plenty of return winners as well. Control shots work great for this and finally we have the block returns with slice. Try blocking Rafa's wide serve to odd court cross to his FH, then hang around a bit on that side, if the balls come back to your BH hit LT and watch that beautiful animation 8)
