I'm TP4 newb OK.

I realise that i should be hitting top spin shots cross court and when my opponent comes to the net (i think) but I'm not quite sure when to use flat shots. Are they for down the line or what?

Also, do you only play slice shots to give yourself time to get to the net?

It's not really like that.. with ts you make better corners and flat shots are faster so better to finish off points for example.. you just have to anticipate on the situation which shot you use but it's true a short cross topspin shot is effective.

Are you already using control shots? That's a very important shot as well which enables you to make even better corners.

I try to make every shot a control shot at the moment. Last night I started to get my timing right and saw a massive improvement.

I'm not using power shot at all at the moment as I normally screw up the timing but that will come.
