Movement hindered at the net?

Postby Socialist » Tue, 07 Jun 2011 03:37

Am i the only one with the impression that there is a "movement at the net bug"........when i try to do a diagonal move close to the net or cross the service line that runs along not across the court........the player seems to be hindered in his movement!
If this has already been discussed, well........i am new :).

I'd say movement is different at net. You can't really run when you're up there, but you can make smaller adjustment steps than you can at the baseline.

How much have you played serve and volley:)?
In my opinion its a bug,.... there is no reason to not be able to move across the service line.....without stumbling or having to stop and start.

i have to say since the update the players out there who are good at s/v actually have a chance now...i couldnt get the ball past rocketsfall82 when i played him last night...which is more realistic...and i also felt like i had more fun after this update...i just still suck at the moment...very rarely are we placing it on the lines now---which is also realistic; the only thing i really noticed is the amount of power you are able to put on a shot; i guess this has to do with the adjustments to the angles; all in all this is what we wanted--a more realistic Top Spin 4....i like this game now; dont know why i said i was disappointed when i first got it. guess i just needed to get used to it

He has played S&V for the most part for 10 years on the Top Spin series, except for a hiatus on TS2...

On TS4, I've serve and volleyed for at least 90% of my matches.

Like Sherlock said, except TS2.

With the latest update, I actually fear that S&V might be too strong on TS4. I still have trouble breaking, but service games might be a bit too easy.

Just played my first match since the update (and since some time actually). Was struggling with Rafter against Courier. But when I executed S&V perfect I loved it. When the timing isn't perfect it gets really tough though, you lose the initiative easily.

Also return games are hard. Was absolutely nowhere from the baseline. Lacked power, placement. Missed quite a few approach shots despite Rafter being an Approach Shots Expert :D

Liked the game though, despite losing 2-6 1-6.

I always find when playing at the net in TS4 that you almost have to guess and start moving BEFORE your opponent even hits the ball. Otherwise, your player won't move at all and stays rooted to the spot. I guess there is some realism to this but just feels a little too punishing.
