I'm really disappointed in the lack of activity from 2K sports regarding this game. It's been three weeks since the release and there is nothing from them. I don't expect issues to be addressed in that period of time but I do expect to hear some communication as to what, if anything, they are working on.
Go to the official forums and there is nothing from them. They have members of the team registered on these forums that posted here before the game released, and not a word since. The XBL forums - silence. Some of the ITST people said that 2K sports wanted to hear about their thoughts and desires, and these ITST people claim that 2K is working on specific issues - but there is nothing to back up what claims have been made on what they are addressing, if anything at all.
1. Online connections failing. Hangs at the connection screen until you're forced to quit out, giving you a loss on your record and the series your were trying to match up in. There are at most 12 people in a single lobby and sometimes I don't get a suitable match, so why would there be so many failed matchings?
2. The character freeze while moving. This is game breaking to me. Is it a bug or intentional? Is it a factor of character stats, online latency, wrong control inputs - we have no answer.
3. Net code. I just can't be nice here, there is no excuse for this. TS4 is a tennis game that involves two characters and a ball, everything else is static. Compare to any FPS game of today that has 20+ players all shooting various weapons, throwing grenades, calling airstrikes, and dealing with environmental conditions all simultaneously with hardly any noticeable lag. Yet in a tennis game involving two moving characters and a single ball and nothing else, it's common to get connections that frequently pause and then speed up to synch. This isn't a cut-rate game from a small first time developer, this is the fourth in a series - it's really rediculous to not get your netcode dialed in as a first priority. We even have online fighting games where timing is everything - characters attacking, blocking, dodging, and countering with split second reactions. It has to be better.
4. Out wide service issues. Seriously.. this was a problem in TS1. It was a problem in TS2. It was a problem in TS3. It is a problem in TS4. How does a game go to market with a problem that was acknowledged in the three previous versions?
I like TS4 - if I didn't think it had good potential I wouldn't care enough to put this down. I am a long time gamer and reasonable to today's thought of "release now, patch later" and so I'm ok that it's not perfect. But the complete lack of communication on any avenue at all doesn't give any confidence that they care about the game. Is it going to be left to die in it's current state? There is nothing from 2K Sports to contradict that..
