Why does my character do a splitstep at inopportune times?

Postby brazegoesmoo » Thu, 31 Mar 2011 10:07

I was wondering if this was a bug or something that has to do with character attributes.

This is most noticeable when returning a high powered serve at any timing (perfect, good, too slow/fast, autoswing). Once the ball is back near the server, my player will attempt to splitstep wherever he is on court, even if it's way outside of the sideline. This keeps me from running back towards the center to try and cover the entire open court.

Let's be honest - it can't be positively labelled as a bug. It's something that bothers some players and maybe it's been reported to 2K but that doesn't mean it's a bug or something that will be addressed unless someone at 2K has said so.

I've kinda got the same feeling even though I don't have this game....it sounds like a lot of these 'bugs' are really just things people don't like about the game.

I'm learning how to move better now and I rarely do the split-step anymore. So it may just be a matter of learning how to move properly.

Think of gliding around the court (small movements with the joystick) and not pushing all the way to one direction when you're trying to move there.

Really? I noticed the glitch not when I was stopped already, but when I was moving when the opponent hit their shot. It mighta been lag, but it certainly happened a few times properly, with me stopping after i'd started moving.

Anyways, I hadn't noticed any other major gameplay bugs, besides the disconnections etc

Likos and I had this problem in our match a little earlier...

I'm starting to think it is infact lag that making the player do the wrong movements at the wrong time.

I do hope 2k is able to fix this problem and also the never ending finding an opponent in world tour is my only annoyance right now with this game.

To me it's a bug, or maybe lag related, because in the offline career I move fine. when I play online all of a sudden my player get's lead-footed it seems.

I would agree, it only seems to happen online. It was happening to me that I'd take one step and then split-step. Then start moving when the ball was bouncing on my side. Not all the time but that doesn't make it any less frustrating when it does happen.

It may just be something that can be learned though as well. As someone else said maybe not pushing the stick all the way to one side would help. The times it happened to me were when I would push it all the way so maybe that is the issue. I'll try it tonight.

or even after you hit the ball and your player is recovering to the middle, after (1) the ball bounces on your opponent's side, or after (2) your opponent hits the ball, my guy just stops moving and does that split step, and for a half second doesn't move, which causes him to get to the next shot MAD late!!

...very frustrating.
