Interesting return idea

Postby LegendaryJordy » Mon, 21 Mar 2011 03:50

So I was playing against someone who pretty much served a shot that was way out to the outside of the court all the time and I was under a bit of pressure so thought about using a dropshot. It works pretty well if you get it on "good" or "perfect" which is easy enough if the serve isn't crazily fast and will give you enough time to counter... and their shot will be poor (on the stretch) so it gives you time to play a lob/fast shot down the line. Only reason I broke the serve to be honest.

Definetely worth a try if your normal return is too easily readable/countered. Does anyone else do this sometimes? Is it even worth my time? :P thanks, I'm still learning the ropes :D

Well I still only have the demo but I've tried this numerous times and yeah it's pretty effective.

Honestly the drop shot is way too easy in this game.

You gotta do something weird though if the guy is serving 150 mph

lol

Believe me since the Top Spin 1 Days I never used a single Drop Shot on a Serve. You know ofcourse you can do it and it wasn't so hart to counter that but if you have the fairness in your blood you know there are some things you just don't do as a Videogametennis Sportsman. *hehe*

I mean I feel this Way, you don't how it seems.

I really dont care either way, but you dont like it when people say that your 98 serve and 98 power is cheap because they cant return it, but when someone finds an affective way to deal with your big serves, you say its unfair or not sportsman like?

I wasn't around for the previous top spins so it's okay for me to use them :p plus whenever I do use 'em I don't think it's unsportsman.

People with 100 power, 100 serve + Bersker goes as follows = extremely easy to do, extremely hard to counter.

Drop shot on a 150mph serve = pretty hard to do, pretty easy to counter. You must see the difference Sinna...

I don't think a Player has a big Chance with Dropshots against my Acebomb "Mamadou Ndiaye" because they are damn fast.

I played Jordy with "Mamadou DFB" (DFB stand for Defensive Baseliner) which is almost a defensive Baseliner but more a mix. He has 8 on offensive and 12 on defensive and has 62 Serve.

I didn't play him with the Character you mean. And you could cleary see how fair it is in the Video I uploaded against StrategyGuide today. I am just using legit Possibilities and have no Cheatcreation. I think that's a big Difference.

A major part of (fair) success on TS4 is realising your opponents strengths and weaknesses. If you have a weekness and have gone for putting no levels onto Serve, then you will pay the price. I'll look and say "mhh only 62 serve", and use my dropshop. It's an extrememly valid way of playing. If you want to run about like a madman AND have power etc. then you have to be able to take a loss when someone takes advantage of your weekness... that's all I'm saying.

That's EXACTLY what I did, so why did you quit?

You know what's the best Return Idea is? Return it with your feets. If you are able to do that in TS4 then you are the Man. I did it once with Gulbis in my last TS4 Match and after that I visited the Banging School and made a Hoe really happy.

The most effective return is the longline topspin. If you dont ace,its pretty useless to have a good serve.annoying stuff...

Big serves in this game is like buttholes , everyone has one , I was playing on line with my all rounder , and everyone had huuuge serves , it helped that I had the "serve counter" trait , but I was able to surprise the server a few times , anyhow what I do with this guys because they have absolutely no creativity with their serve and just serve big every time , usually to the same side is to hit the return button as soon as the ball leaves the racquet .

I think TK2 droped the ball with the serves , in real life having a big serve like that is rare , and even if you do have a big serve like Roddick you have to be creative and trow some spin , slice , flats etc ...
