Top Spin 3(!!) Australian Open

Postby Cro Morgan » Mon, 13 Jan 2014 18:31

A Men's Singles (40/90) Top Spin 3 tournament is currently in sign-up.

The Australian Open - for both the Xbox and PS - has been created and will begin on Monday, January 20th.

Of course we will need TS3 players for this to work, so spread the word. I will send an email to all TS3 members later today.

You can register for the TS3 Australian Open by clicking the link(s) below:

"Dear Male DragonBANNED

The Top Spin 3 tour was very popular before giving way to Top Spin 4. How popular? Thirty-three months after the final TS3 tournament, ITST members are still praising the game, many asking for another tournament, and possibly a tour.

Question: Are there enough people who want to play, and are still able to play Top Spin 3?

There is no better way to gauge interest than actually hosting a TS3 tournament, therefore:

A new Top Spin 3 tournament - the Australian Open - is currently in sign-up. If you still have the interest (and the game) you can register for the tournament by following the link(s) below:"

This is the email I got.

LOL....'Male Dragon'. I'm not gonna lie, I don't even remember making that account here but apparently I did.

Must say really enjoyed my first match against ELTXETXU, really fun to be playing ts3 again, lots of great points, great battles!

Shame about all the WO and no match, bit inevitable but a Shame, I hope the hosts arent being too strict on things like deadlines

Deadlines very lenient. No match/WO's given only when there was zero communication.

Good to hear :c dont know why there were so many though, you'd think if they signed up they would've tried a bit more! Very odd, especially willybeama, he was so keen haha!

RESULTS:

XBOX

Whatever dust may have collected on Norberto, he was able to wipe it off as he defeated Saarbrigga in the championship match, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.

WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID

Norberto H: "A very nice match against my friend Saarbrigga! Both of us did not play at a level we did in the past, and Saarbrigga struggled especially on his serve, having a first serve percentage of only around 30 %. However, it was really nice, to play this game again after such a long time - it brought back memories...thanks for the match!"

PS3

coke4 and alex13090 revisited their rivalry in unparalleled fashion with coke4 winning in five marathon sets, 6-3, 6-3, 6-7, 6-7, 7-6

WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID

coke4: "This was an epic game, in which we both used sim characters (me tompson and alex house) lasting about 2 hours and 10 minutes. It was full of lots of long exciting rallies, amazing defending and ridiculous winners.

Alec is such a top player and defends like nothing else. While I was on top the first two sets alex crawled bac and got the upper hand in the next two, with the last one being a real battle.

1st set: I started off better, getting break points in the second game before breaking in the third, broke again at 3-5 to take it.

2nd set: was quite similar to the first, with me breaking early on and keeping control to take it 6-3.

3rd set: Alex broke right away and took a 2-0 lead, I broke back but he broke me again and opened up a 4-1 lead. I managed to level the score despite alex now dominating. He took the tie break after an exchange of mini breaks.

4th set: was similar to 3rd, with alex dominating more, but it remained on serve, with alex getting a couple of break points, but apart from that it was serve dominated. The tie break followed similar fashion, and a late mini break gave him the set.

5th set: Was hard fought, with both of us getting a fair few b/p but neither converting. After a topsy turvy Tb i got the decisive mini break and got 6-4, but he came back saving them, we then battled it out, bth getting match points and saving match pints, before i finally took it.

Stats (alex/coke): 75 1st Serve % 55 67 win % 1st serve 75 62 win % 2nd serve 68 4 aces 4 2 double faults 6 79 winners 98 37 unforced errors 56 2/6 break points 5/10 170 points won 184.

Congrats to both players and thanks to all who participated!!
