dude....create a player...its not that difficult its just restrictions on fh bh pwr...out of the 3 of those one must be a max of 90 and the others a max of 79 and 69

I know and I did for the last SIM tournament just can't be bothered this time. If a full tour took off though I would definately make one, but for a one-off event I'll stick with a pro.

Yeah. I´ll be using a pro this time too, if we finally play a SIM season, I´ll create one.

Again, i dont thin the counter puncher type is going to be succesful on the sime tour. After having thought this over, i get to the same conclusion, with the limited stats, counter punchers will not succeed. Guess i am going to have to go for a new setup.

I just finished barely winning a match in this tournament, and I honestly think any style can win with these rules. When I first heard about it I was skeptical (especially the pro/custom part) but after playing a match I'm sold.

So much more strategy involved... There's ALWAYS a weakness now, and this should make for great tactical stuff.

I think what you have to do is find a style that suits you - don't pick a style and then try to make it work.

If you're good with RT, make a character with low power. Good with LT, go with high power and lower groundstrokes. If you don't like using risk at all, you're gonna have to use good anticipation and play more defensively. You can't expect to hit winners without some risk - that's what makes this so realistic - no more just relying on your character.

Well i have done testing with counter ouncher for awhile and i see no real way to win, you are basically being more consistent with your opponent, but heck everyone can be consistent and by limiting FH and BH like it is, i just dont see how my counter puncher style will work

What do you all consider david nalbandian?

I think it's just not your style.

Hey Emate: What stats did you use? And do you remember your opponents stats?

Anyway, when we were testing this I tried the one setup that I felt was the best test of a good sim rule - the all 70 setup. You can't actually make an all 70 character because of the rule about having to use one white skill, but you can do 71/69 and the rest 70's (close enough to all 70). It was the most difficult to use, but we could tell it at least stood a chance. You just have to take advantage of all your skills - come to net, anticipate well, use risk at the right times, serve well, etc.

You can only use that if you use Nalbandian. You cannot create a player with those stats (you can't have 80+ on a groundstroke and power). But, you can come close - the yellow would be replaced with 69 (almost yellow) and one of the oranges would be replaced with 79 (almost orange).

Edit - this was to coolhand re what style will work.

So make a version of his style that fits you. I played with:
79fh 50vly
69bh 90pwr
80srv 79spd
60rtn 53stm

It suited me just fine until I tried to volley. There was a *little* bit of lag that screwed me up sometimes, but this is just not the setup for me.
I think there's a lot of room for development inside these rules, and even before this tourny was announced I was playing a character with 80fh and 60 bh... Lower groundstroke stats are not as bad as everyone assumes, timing is still the most important part.

My favorite character has mostly yellow stats and sadly does not qualify for this tournament despite being the most balanced player I've seen (except on WT, some guys go with 70's across the board). But with these restrictions, any style can win.

Power is NOT the only important stat anymore.

Did you read what I wrote about the all 70's above? You can come very close, and probably wouldn't have to change much on your favorite character.

I did, and it makes sense. I would only lose a few points on my backhand and serve. I think I'll go try it right now.

I'm starting to think this game is hopeless to be quite honest, the returning in this game is just plain broken, there is nothing the returner can do really against a good server, TS3 matches, even SIM matches, are sooo incredibly boring....serve, return error, serve, return error, serve, winner, serve, return error, serve, winner, repeat over and over again until you want to break something. There's no way to get the ball out of the center on the court, with your return, unless you risk, which totally sucks.
