Dude, you are COOL in my book  Sorry, I have been busy lately, just playing ITST matches at the moment. Next week should be a "easy" one for me.

BTW - if you see me online and I don't answer, I am not there  I have started to forget to shut off my XBOX. Bad habit.

Oh....played Near 5-7 1-6. Great player. Need a couple of more matches to get close to him....I am slow starter  Very unique style, haven't seen anyone play like him before.
Level 13 Edberg and counting...

Played two more matches against Near and he won both 6-1 7-6 and 7-6 6-3. I am determined to beat him at least once so I will keep trying  The scary thing though is that I feel he has another 10 notches to raise his level to if required and that for the sake of providing a competitive match, he just plays to your level and steps it up then when he needs to  I can safely say that his defense to attack play is the best in itst. I have never seen any one able to neutralize a rally like he can when he is on the backfoot.

The key to beating Near is to serve and volley against him. But he'll figure that out eventually I'm sure.

Heh. I have invited you a couple of times to crack the code, but if you mean harder returns and the top spin ones to the feet and stuff then i choose not to use them for now...

We should play again soon and are you gonna get Fight Night round 4? It is awesome.

Actually, the 6-1 7-6 set was one of the hardest i've ever played.

I'm still waiting to see if they are going add the button punching - that would kill it for me.

Finally I found some time to play some exibition matches:

7-6, 7-6 against Baghdad Kebab - I had tremendous problems, returning his serve, and I don't remember the last time, doing so many unforced errors, I think he even scored more points than me - gg though, he is a very good player.

7-6, 6-4 against RAE, also a nice match, again I had some return-problems and did slightly more unforced errors than usual.

And I played an ITST match against Coolhand, that I lost 5-7, 7-5, 6-7 - that was a high-class match! Some of the rallies we had, had the same quality like those I had with Swity and Anteros at the French Open.

match statistics: Norberto - Coolhand:

1st serve % 98/ 85

win on 1st 83/ 76

win on 2nd 50/ 74

aces 19/ 21

d.f. 0/ 2

winners 69/ 39

unforced errors 6/9

total points 107/ 98

I think, in case I lost a match like this some days ago, I would have probably gone wild (maybe I would have opened a "Coolhand Texas" and "Coolhand Texas part 2" thread  ) - but now, that I won Wimbledon, I feel much more relaxed, so all I can say is: GREAT MATCH, and good luck at the rest of the tournament - there are so many great players out there right now, so it is hard to say, whether Coolhand is top5 or not, but after this match I can say, that he is a top10 player, that is for 100% sure!

So once again the draw put up B.F. Ugly - indeed short for Bloody F***** Ugly - (TomBs) against Tommy Haas (SoundfSilence).

Heavyweight midget Ugly made a great start to the match as he rushed through his service game before breaking Haas to love. The German really had trouble to get his game going, and before everyone was well aware of what was happening Ugly was leading 5-0. Haas was keen to keep his service game however, and with the diesel starting to flow he took his first game of the match. At the other end of the court things had be going really smoothly for Samoan-born Ugly. Too smoothly actually, as the experienced player - 46 years old - lost his concentration and handed the break to Haas. Haas then steamed through his service game and by breaking Ugly once more the German was back in the set. Serving to level things up, also Haas was starting to feel the pressure. Ugly regained his concentration and managed to get set point. Haas remained calm though, and with solid play from the baseline he outrallied his opponent to hold his serve. Ugly, still not fully back in his rhythm, blew many chances to take the set and he knew it. Angry about himself he threw away his next service game - with Haas hitting some magnificent returns too - and all of a sudden Haas was serving for the first set. The German went up 40-15 to get his first set points. But once again we were up for another turnaround as Ugly didn't capitulate. Hitting away four setpoints Ugly took his first break opportunity of the game to make a tiebreak necessary. Now it was Haas to be knackerd and Ugly took an early double minibreak to gain a 3-0 lead. And although Haas did take one back it was Ugly to get five set points at 6-1. Surely this couldn't go wrong anymore for the Samoan, but at 6-3 it was Haas to serve, and the crowds didn't know what to expect anymore. Finally Ugly kept his calm and outrallied his opponent to take the tiebreak 7-3.

1st set statistics:

After the epic first set it was unclear what we would get in the second. But somehow the match turned into a proper tennis match, with both players holding on to their service games, despite facing two breakpoints each. At 4-4, after Haas had ruined a break opportunity, it was Ugly to take the first break of the second set. But serving for a set had already been proven difficult for the Samoan, and now he was also serving for the match. Once again he failed. Haas broke back and went on to win the second set 7-5.

2nd set statistics:

How different can sets be? After seeing already two completely different sets the crowd was about to witness another absolutely weird set, best described by 'ladies tennis'. Both players, running around the court with their tongues on their shoes - nothing unusual for Ugly though, being 5'5 -, had trouble putting their opponent under pressure with their serves, and so the breaks followed each other up as if it indeed was ladies tennis. With Federer watching from the dressing room - he had to play on the centre court right after this match and probably had expected to have already finished his match by now - it was Haas to hang on to his service game at 2-2. Ugly looked shattered, and was unable to keep his serve as Haas applied the pressure with sharply placed returns. Nevertheless the Samoan kept fighting as he to the break back to stay in the set. But serving to make it 4-4 once again proved to be too much. With well executed cross-court shots from both the forehand and the backhand Haas put his opponent to distress. At 5-3 Haas could serve for the match, and, believe it or not, he succeeded by converting his first matchpoint.

Played some more matches today and had a mixed bag of results. I beat Rae 6-3 7-6 in probably one of the best performances I have produced in months. Every thing was just working for me and I remembered to stay aggressive for the entire match
Feeling quite confident after this match, I took on Near again and he quickly brought me crashing back down to earth with a 6-2 6-1 trashing. He broke me in the first game of the match and just ran away with it from there.
Played Ghost after this and he won 2-6 7-6 6-2. First set was great from me, I managed to break twice and I kept it close in the second set but Ghost just raised his level at key moments and I weakened in the decider.Still, i think this is a "positive" loss as I felt I had my chances 8)
Finally, I finished up by having a battle with Joesixtoe and he won a tightly-fought contest 7-6 7-6. As expected, this one was mainly decided from the baseline although in a rather desperate attempt to try and mix things up, I started to serve and volley in the 2nd set to some moderate success as it is hard work to keep battling against Joe from the baseline.

All in all, very entertaining matches today :D

Hey Mack,

We seem to keep missing each other lol

Each time i invite you to lay you are in a match, so i wait, then end up playing someone and then you invite me..I was playing a match against Noberto H last night (great player) and he eat me 7-6, 7-6 and i saw ur invite and i thought nooooo, i wanna play Mack! Gutted.

I lost to Near 7-6, 6-4 other day, we play alot of matches and i have not beaten him yet, a very tricky unique player.

I beat ITSTRocketsfall 7-6, 6-4 or summit like that, a good game.
Beat newbie Admiu187, he risks on every shot and once he reduces his unforeced errors he will be a force to reckon with on the tour i assure you of that, won 7-6, 6-0.
I lost 7-5, 7-6 to my mate ghostLD, we are equal head to head i reck, a very fun player to play against

Button punching would kill it for me, too...I think it's good for UFC, but boxing...no.

Norberto beat me 6-3 3-6 6-4. It was an intriguing match though. Even though I lost the 1st set, I still felt I always in it and had a good chance. That proved to be the case as I won the 2nd set with a single break of serve. The final set was close up until 5-4 when Norberto just hit like 4 consecutive return winners to break and claim the match
I can definitely see how Norberto is getting amazing results and winning slams now as it is so tough to get into a rhythm against him. When you play him it is like he is the one who will decide how the match plans out as he has such an uncompromising style of play, whether he hits winners or makes errors and that can be overwhelming to try and adjust to. For instance, he just went for broke on the returns consistently and it eventually paid off for him. I think the key to playing him is to try and force him into rallies and to make sure you run down every ball as he can get a little frustrated sometimes and miss. Also, just trying to slow down the pace of the match is quite good too as he likes to play at breakneck speed lol. Anyway, I will look forward to our next encounter
