BTW - looks like G.House is very popular. I am surprised because to me, there are better baseliners, I can name at least 3 that will destroy Houses setup.

Mr. Coke got one of them.

Lets hear the two other set ups, cause I'm not convinced :? . Coke uses Thompson, and it definately can't "destroy" House. Coke and I have played a thompson vs house and it was balanced. :tu

OK then, lets explore.

Mathematically, if you combine FH+BH+power, House is #3 on the list:

Lopez - 229
Bishop - 228
House - 227

Strategy wise, House has a weak serve for a baseliner. It can be attacked, constantly, with good results. Houses return at 71 seems like an asset, but with 67 speed it is just solid, not a weapon. And his FH can be picked apart by a crafty short top spins to that side.

All-in-all, house is more of a grinder then a basliner. He can't consistently start points on his serve and he can't put a lot of pressure on returns, once rally starts, his FH is a liability. He looks good on paper, but I believe there are better basliners.

Here are my top 3 basleiners:

#1 - Bashmakov - simple really, 90serve and power practically guarantees a tie break if you are a decent server. Once there, 76 return will yield a few that will decide the match. Classic ball brasher, not much placement but loads of power and easy controlled points on serve.

#2 - Thomson - Don't let the weak strokes fool you. His 6'4 frame and 90 speed and 72 power is a Dream for a Risker. I will use this setup myself. If you are decent at risk, this is my pick for your baseliner.

#3 - Bishop - Modeled after Nalbandian. Weak serve, but strong return game. With a bit practice and moderate risk, he is a nightmare to play against.

not at all!

This is not a "must stick to player I picked" thread  This thread is to simply let your opponent know who you be using in the next match. Feel free to change and simply post here the new player you are using. I simply made the thread because I think it will improve the experience, as in ATP you kinda know who you play against before the match :P

I like the spirit! Same here. I will use Thompson! Sorry Coke, but had my sights on him a while back, hope you don't mind sharing. :P

Just want to remind you guys, if you can spare a few minutes after the match, please post here your score and player used. A short summery of match experience would be great as well.

Absolutely! I thing its great if we try as many players as possible. My thinking thou is that once you win first round with one player, you will not want to change the winning setup. :P

I played against all of these and it was fine. I don''t beleive any set up can destroy house, but someone will surely make me eat my words soon enough.

I agree that thompson is for people ready to risk on both bh and fh. I used thompson alot at first, but his speed made me drain my stamina so fast. With house you can run forever, and hes very easy to control.
To each his own i guess

Oh absolutely. I chose a wrong word: "destroy" No setup can be easily destroyed if it is in the right hands. I was referring more to pure baseliners. The right word is competitive.

Say you play with House and me with Thompson. Because of Thompson speed, his relatively low serve doesn't matter, I would simply serve to your weaker side and rely on 90 speed to get to next point. I would keep doing it over and over until you lose patience returning from weak side and start risking all out, that will lead to a bunch of mistakes. If not and you actually break my serve by returning - I will take my virtual hat for you :P On your server, my 90 speed + 74 return against your 59 serve will be very effective. Again, I would pick your weaker side on returns and get into the rally, were my 90 speed will prevail. Keep in mind, I risk, a lot. The reason you had trouble with 67 stamina is likely because you didn't risk enough and run yourself out. Thompson is not an aggressive setup, more of a counter puncher.....so running is fine, but when you get the opportunity (and you will with 90 speed) you need to be able to counter punch, not punch the ball back.

So basically, House will struggle to get "on top" of the point, but if he does, he can control and win points quick. Stamina is great if you can make a use out of it.....but House is built to control points and end them quick....so yeah, it will help here and there to get a few balls back ....but if you don't control the points, House is a losing proposition.....and if you do control, then stamina is useless. Two edged sword really.

I think we shall see what setups will be effective once a few tournament pass by. Initial instinct of most send them towards House, which is cool....all we need is Mr.Coke to prove them wrong.

Remember guys, House has to compete ONLY against the players of the list.....so some assets maybe useless against certain players....while against others they work great.

Well, I risked when I could, but what drained the stam is those shots you can only barely reach and fumble back.
And really, if you mostly return to my weaker side, you'll have to risk return all the time since I'm expecting it, and will smash lt+rt. And with 83(?) power, a normal shot is still pretty nasty.

All theory of course. Looking forward to this sim tour, gonna be real good

ohhh common! Of course I will mix a few serves to your stronger side, and change spins constantly. You right 80 power and 58 stroke still yields a nice shot...but.....90 speed gets that back every time :P  ....I didn't say I will "push" the ball to your weaker side....I said I will hit it, varying depth and spin....it will break.

As for these shots that you just barely reach, think what got you there in the first place  "...its all in the wrist" Also, try to go for broke when on the run, the first run....not the third

BTW alex13090 are you on my friend list? ....lets play sometime, I feel like we will both enjoy it. :c

yeah, Bashmakov is lightning fast 8)

BTW - I was not looking for only top players to register their SIMs. I think it is just better if you know who you are playing in advance, which character I mean.

Isnt he really slow... :?
