BTW - looks like G.House is very popular. I am surprised because to me, there are better baseliners, I can name at least 3 that will destroy Houses setup.![]()
Mr. Coke got one of them.
Lets hear the two other set ups, cause I'm not convinced. Coke uses Thompson, and it definately can't "destroy" House. Coke and I have played a thompson vs house and it was balanced.
OK then, lets explore.
Mathematically, if you combine FH+BH+power, House is #3 on the list:
Lopez - 229
Bishop - 228
House - 227
Strategy wise, House has a weak serve for a baseliner. It can be attacked, constantly, with good results. Houses return at 71 seems like an asset, but with 67 speed it is just solid, not a weapon. And his FH can be picked apart by a crafty short top spins to that side.
All-in-all, house is more of a grinder then a basliner. He can't consistently start points on his serve and he can't put a lot of pressure on returns, once rally starts, his FH is a liability. He looks good on paper, but I believe there are better basliners.
Here are my top 3 basleiners:
#1 - Bashmakov - simple really, 90serve and power practically guarantees a tie break if you are a decent server. Once there, 76 return will yield a few that will decide the match. Classic ball brasher, not much placement but loads of power and easy controlled points on serve.
#2 - Thomson - Don't let the weak strokes fool you. His 6'4 frame and 90 speed and 72 power is a Dream for a Risker. I will use this setup myself. If you are decent at risk, this is my pick for your baseliner.
#3 - Bishop - Modeled after Nalbandian. Weak serve, but strong return game. With a bit practice and moderate risk, he is a nightmare to play against.
