Sorry guys tennis is about tactics , do you guys know how many times I have goten points , even games out of framing a ball in real life and it sends a super high moonball with loads of spin that usally results in an error or a week reply (unless the guy is really good then I pay for it) short slices are very common in tennis and get you a lot of "free" points , damn some people in real tennis in high level (4.0 4.5) this is all they do !

So stop calling stuff you can't deal with unrealistic and learn to read the shot and put it away .

This is pretty true. I'm a 4.5 player and this kind of stuff is very prevalent at that level. It doesn't give pros much trouble, but it can trouble 4.0-4.5 players greatly. Last season when I played for school, I really had the most trouble with the 'worse' or lower-skilled players. Not only is there the pressure of "I should definitely beat this guy!", but they hit quite frankly CRAPPY shots that are actually really hard to deal with if you're used to guys that hit the ball cleanly and deep.

Bottom line is that you need to not let annoying shots like short slices and mishits affect you on some emotional level. Recognize them, read it, put them away, end of story...

Equities & Andy - you guys are right. this is after all a video game. and in the spirit of "gaming competition", one just has to learn how to deal w/ the shot and either counter it, continue to lose to it or quit. i've seen all three happen. it just doesn't make for a very fun gaming experience. (at least for me)

But the notion that the risk slice is similar to real tennis (at the 4.0, 4.5 level or 7.0 for that matter) is completely ridiculous. There is definitely a lot of slicing at the competitive level for sure, but it's for chip & charge, defense or to throw your opponents timing off. i play 4.0, my partner is a 4.5. i've played combo doubles leagues w/ other 4.5's. i have hit w/ a few 5.0's at my racquet club. and there isn't one person i've EVER hit with that can slice the way the risk slice works in ts3. PERIOD.

In real tennis you cannot take a 130 mph serve and slice it back diagonally to the other side inside the service line for a winner. You cannot slice the ball back over and have it land 2 feet in front of the service line after your opponent has crushed a forehand at you. You cannot. If you think you can, you're either Roger Federer on steroids or crazy.

So like I've said before, it all depends what you want from the game. Do you want to play simulation tennis or just a video game.

The game is what it is...it's obviously quite far from perfect but you kind of have to throw your expectations of what 'real tennis' is out the window. You don't have to worry about technique or your breathing or your footwork in a video game. You just press a button and if you have good enough timing, you can basically hit any shot in the book. After like, 2 weeks of intense playing

Lol at Equities 'Losers Feel Good Club' remark hahaha such a cool name for some of the people here who just aren't good enough to counter such tactics and have to create threads in attempt to ban such shots

the discuss about short slice is back .

i personally think the short slice is a cheap tactic -
but you can´t call the shoot cheese !! he isn´t !!
unrealistic ?? yes ,but in TS3 are much more unrealistic shots !!

don´t cry- start to find alternate ways to stopp this shot .
or play offense that your opponent can´t play this shot
this ways can work about LT RT X slices .....(playing to forehand- risk - dropshot -answer rt lt X with RT LT X ,)

I'm half European/South African hence I get straight to the point (bluntness is bliss). I dislike people who say a certain shot is unfair because I CAN'T deal with it, either find a tactic to counter such shots or don't complain at all. If you want 'ideal tennis', looking in a video game won't help, go out and hit against a walll.

*I'm not infering this to the author, Coke, just the people who continually make public threads naming and shaming players who use such tactics and garner support in telling him to stop such shots* completely.

Me too, actually :) I pretty much enjoy all Nirvana's studio albums, especially Bleach and Incesticide.

edit: Actually I meant to say In Utero but Incesticide is great, too

Man today I played this guy that sliced everything back , I mean everything ! granted we were playing with some semi worn balls but it was so frustrating that he kept getting to the balls and perfectly slicing the ball back to the baseline low were it was hard to attack and it just reset the point .

I got mad , I got furious that he was playing some cheese tennis , yet I realize that when people want to win they will do anything !

I beat him last time so now he will go tommorow to work (we work together)talking crap about how he beat me , lol, even tough he played some crap tennis.,
