Anyway I'm trying out striker for shiggles, hit me up on psn if youd like a match except coke and his damn passing shots

EDIT: Got my first demolition, lost 6-2 6-1 or something to marlon (and he obviously wasn't even playing at 50%)

Someone help me improve! :x

Yep. DTL returns get me so often when im S/V :( I try to use almost any combination except the slice+l2 short-volley which i find boring, but they float by me half the time

played otlichno and won 6-3 6-3
now he played differently he used more L2 but since i was tapping mines i had the advantage of not missing  however it could use some improvement. him hitting deep shots was very cool cuz i would hit it back and it would float near the baseline and i hit some pretty wicked topspin shots butt he still got to them  surprisingly i didn't miss any serves which was a first . i had fun with the l2 battle its so cool to watch ur shot go on the lin e and constantly doing until they overpower u with r2 l2 grrr

Had a nice match with a new guy here called Locati agosti, using our normal 90 40 characters , he hits the ball very hard and serves even harder , I managed to win 6-1 6-1 but he just got unlucky on some shots , his angles are amazing ,

He is also very nice and I hope he does well in future on this

Had another tough SV game with tombs, this time winning 7-6 6-4. The 1st few games he was hitting the returns so cleanly i had to struggle to hold serve. my 1st volley too was weak, with little angle and falling short on the court, if tombs had been using a quicker player i would have been passed to death. Tombs serve was very effective also, at 4-4 my serve he earnt himself 2 BP's to be serving for the set, however i managed to save one with a ace and another when his backhand pass went long. in the next game, i hit some decent return and got myself a set point, this was saved and we was in the tiebreak, i anticipated right on some returns and got into a 5-0 headstart and took the set.

2nd set we was both holding with relative ease, great serving and volleying. i managed to break at 4-4 randomly to love after tombs's striker seemed to be very slow reaching the net, i then had to serve it out and took some big pressure from him including two huge passes i dunno how i volleyed back, but i finally won the game and match with a backhand volley

Striker is proving more attractive not to SV guys but also to baseliners as his 90 serve and respectable power means you maybe could do well, however his speed is quite lethargic.

Just finished one hell of a match vs SoundfSilence. Me with Nakamura, Sound with Lightman

I'm on the verge of winning a match (hey, you need to start somewhere..), and am getting the timing right. Sound was clearly not warmed up in the first set, as I took it 6-4. However, he was warmed up in the 2nd, leaving me hardly a chance to take a game, but not giving me a chance converting any gamepoints. And as my stamina went flashing Sound eased to 6-0. Things in 3rd seemed to go the same, as Sound took a 3-0 lead. However, as his stamina also went flashing red, I saw a chance to fight back into it, held serve twice, broke once, to make it 3-3. On serve it went to 4-4. Then Sound was struggling in his service game, I took advantage to break to 5-4. Nevertheless I couldn't finish it off on my serve, handing the break to Sound.
We then both held easily to take it to a tiebreak.

In the tiebreak I directly grabbed a minibreak with a fh-winner, but Sound fought back with his amazing angles. He took the 6-3 lead and went all out on my serve, but I held on to make it 6-5. He then finished it on his serve.

Villa do you reckon Burns is the better S/V option then? I'm currently playing with Striker when I S/V, sorta getting the hang of it, but when I get broken the set is pretty much over. Might be a game where I threaten to break but thats it.

Yeah, was a great game Villa. I felt I could take it as my returns were pretty good. But in the end your strokes were better.

Best Dark Paladin 7-5 6-3 there was quite a lot of lag so I was able to pass him (FOR ONCE ) not really much going in the match he couldn't volley well because of the lag so I had an easy target most of the time, he still hit quite a few amazing ones as usual.

And than lost to Josenylund 7-6 6-2, I was up a break in the first but couldn't hold on and he finally got his risks in in the tiebreak and throughout the second set and I couldn't do a thing afterwards. I feel like I need to add a bit of risk in my game because I felt like if he played like he did in the second set throughout the match he would've beaten me 6-0 6-0.
Work me a boss.

Its all very much dependent on your game. I've played close games with burns and taken sets off top players but rarely won against a top player, the 51 FH can be a nightmare at times and returning with pace is difficult, but once in a rally you can hold your own due to speed, and try and get to the net. i serve and volley probably equally well however strikers serve is much more robust for me, as it has speed AND weight, whereas burns has speed but seems a little light.

if you get a good serve in with striker, 90% of the time you have won the point, his volleys are that good. it can be hard to get to the net though especially against strong return characters. in a rally after 6-7 shots the odds are against you winning that rally, as the low speed means to other guy gradually gets the upper hand. that being said if you can hold well enough, and get to tiebreak anything can happen.

All in all i think if you can keep rallies short by being good at risking and approaching the net and being agressive on return you'l probably be better with striker, he isnt a defender, however if you want to be competitive in some longer rallies and be able to defend better as well as being offensive you should try burns, although you'l have to learn to cope with the low brittle power and a very weak wing.

hope this helps! and glad another player interested in the serve and volley, although it makes my life harder as being one of the better ones :)

Thanks man! I created burns today and its pretty much as you said, though I can break back alot more with burns than striker. I'm adapting to a double trigger shot not necessarily even phasing my opponent in a ralley. I was playing some random who used murray earlier and I double triggered 3 times in a row before winning this one point

I'm slowly getting the hang of it and learning how to handle different returns, still having a bit of trouble with the short topsin returns, I think thats because I click too early and my player kinda just fumbles a shot back.

I like burns better after comparing the two. Gonna stick with him 8)
