Rob ITST wrote:I played the most fun match I've ever played on TS3 tonight against Djarvik. Basically, he made a left handed Taylor Dent with the exact same stats as my Sampras character - so he was a mirror image of myself.

The first two sets were tiebreaks: Djarvik won the first, I won the second. In the third set Djarvik broke me early, I think in the first game. I had a lot of chances to break after that, but Djarvik just kept coming up with good serves, good volleys, and sometimes staying back. I finally broke when Drarvik served for the match at 5-3 and went on to win the next three games to close it out 7-5. It was a very intense match that lasted just under an hour.

There were some crazy stats in the match:

Me -------------------- Djarvik
12 -------- Aces -------- 3
86 ----- Winners ------ 42
26 ------- Errors ------- 11
2/23 -- Break Points -- 1/7

Djarvik really impressed me with how well he's adapting to playing serve and volley - especially with how well he handled all the break points.

Dang rob i bet u were pissed at that break point conversion percentage.

I played his serve and voley character in WT and won 4-3, 4-3. ( Maybe one was 4-2, im not sure.)

I had a good match with Nimfrodil, with our sim players.

It was Joachim Johansson (me), vs Hewitt. Big serve and volley against fast counter puncher.

Hewitt started off strongly, breaking early and held on to take the first set 6-4, high quality tennis.

Johansson got used to Hewitt's pace in the 2nd set and really attacked the net on every occasion he got. Some errors from Hewitt helped, and he was broken twice. The 2nd break gave Johansson the set 6-2.

A really tight 3rd set, both players saving breakpoints, up until 4-4, when Johnasson played some poor volleys and gave Hewitt the break. Hewitt serving for the match had to save break points, but came through and won 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

You stand way behind the baseline and slaughter every shot and you tell me I play boring? I don't know if you were using double-trigger or not, but you were a pure ballbasher, you go for winners at every opportunity. Show me one shot you were not trying to overpower me or using your "realistic" short slice?

I've played enough matches with many players here, if someone plays a power game, I admire that because at least he/she admits it. I am so sick of people complaining how unrealistic it is to hit this shot and that shot, yet he/she has no problem hitting it himself/herself.

Don't blame your opponents, blame this game.

1st of all i wasnt sayign you werent creative i was just saying there werent any rallies. I dont give a crap about creative, i like power rallies

2nd i know im not creative, but i dont use risk. I tried though, i tried to use a short angle B, but since i sont use risk u crushed it. ( idont use risk beleive it or not and i dont go for winner evry time b/c i dont use risk, sort of hard to go for winners with no risk?)

3rd i said wouldnt playing many exos based on the fact the whole match lasted 10 freaking minutes (purely my opinion, just wanna have some rallies)

The only thing i didnt like was the fact that you double risked every serve i served, and that led to 0 rallies. hence the expresion "winner or error".

I stand behind the baseline b/c its a unique style, im trying to be different. I could return close to the line and do better but i find it unique back there.

Exaggerated much? At least I serve and volley, I hit dropshots, what do you do with the ball except hitting it hard, harder and hardest?

You stayed way behind the baseline and still had problem putting the ball back into play, I did not even use slice serve enough. And please spare me the BS you don't risk.

People who criticize others' game should take a look at their own game. So I should just stand there and let you boss me around the court?

In you own universe, you can play a power game and I can't?

Look i wasnt ayting your game was bad, or you cheated i just said everything was winner or error, nothing wrong with that except i just dont like to play people like that. I stand behind the baseline because thats what i like.

And i dont risk beleive it or not i dont. So dont even go there. I hate risking and you can tell when i do because its a freaking error, i rely on timing. No you dont have to let me boss you around the court, ask joesixtoe how the rallies are in our matches, its pure fun power rallies, and i dont boss him aorund on the court.

I never criticesed your game in fact i even said "i can see why he is number 1" i actually complented you.
So stop trying to argue with me, i hate realistic steups i never voted for them, and im not whining, just staing facts.

Exactly. Let's keep this topic about the exhibition matches, not about how you think the game should be played.

Sounds like you have a constant chip on your shoulder - just chill out a bit :D

Anyway, I played some sim matches earlier against JR and Joesixtoe. I lost both but felt I learned quite a bit in the process at to what stats work better for sim set ups

Jr won 6-3 7-6 in a very close match. Just the one break in the first set and I had a few break point chances in the second set but couldn't take them.Jr was just too strong and played a great attacking game.

Played Joe later in the day in a very entertaining match. He won 7-6 3-6 6-1. The first set was almost a match in itself as it went on for ever with a lot of long deuce games and in the tiebreak joe jumped out to an early mini-break lead in which I managed to claw back to 5-5 but he came up with some super returns to take the set. Second set I started to play much more purposely and took an early break which I kept to take the set. Third set though went by in a breeze lol. Joe just took me completely by surprise by bursting out of the blocks and before I knew it the match was over.
Both matches were great though coz there was a sense that at least you feel like you have a chance to win but it comes down to who ever is able to execute their tactics better

ya, my favourite match so far(in exhibition  ) the most enjoyable rally wise, and the momentum shifted an awful lot in the match. like in some games i felt in control, and others not so.
it was an intriguing match to play in, certainly better than our 'unrealistic match'

played anil, picachu, djarvik, and jacqest with realistic set-ups and lost them all...the only one not close was against jacaqest....i had great fun, but i didnt have my character to an over all of 70....that could have been part of my problem for not winning as well.....but all these players are great players especially jacaqest i think he will do very well in the sim tournaments

i played two really fun exhibition matches today. First was against brgerflipr, he was using sim, i was using regular(which in fairness has 0 90's) i was winning 6-4 3-3 when i had to go play an ITST match.
My second was against Pocho_89, i had won 1 more point going into the tie break and had many break points, but a poor serve gave him a 1-0 lead in it and he took it the tie break 7-5, the point at 6-5 was long, i had my chances in it, i didnt take them.
second set i was fired up and broke him 4-4, and then served it out for 6-4, in the 3rd i had to go to an ITST match when i was serving at 0-1 40-15. so the score was 7-6(5) 4-6 1-0 / 6-7(5) 6-4 0-1.

i played Anil's gasquet last night. I won 7-6, 7-6 with my lefthanded realistic james blake setup. I was suprised i didnt choke playing with him. It was a fun match, and Anil has one heck of a backhand, it scares me when i mishit a ball to it, its a 100% winner.

Nice match anil

Lost around 2 or 3 matches today to Equitiesindallas - all of them 3 setters. The last match was funny as I decided to create a 330lbs fatso to match his player. It was a real battle of the heavyweights  I thought I was on course for victory leading 7-6 and at 3-3 in the second set I had 0-40 on his serve but failed to break and ended up losing that set 7-5 and the next one 6-3. Even though my player had 90 speed but with all the extra weight, it felt like his responses were slow and the net was just a disaster zone
