1) REG Tour with a character with any setup as you like it.

2) SIM Tour with at least 50 xp points on each attribute and where you can´t use risk shots.

What do you think ?

Insist that´s the best option

I absolutely agree. Today was the 1st time I've encountered this problem. I was on World Tour and I played 2 ppl back to back who used that setup. It makes me really mad. I'm all for another tour.

I just played a guy like it right now, and honestly it is the most frustrating game to play. Add on more if they do nothing but wide serves and you get just pissed off.

And I swear my risk/power shots have to be broken, because I can't for the life of me get them to work, yet everyone else seems to have no problem doing it.

I just see everyone try to ban the things that they have problem with  who have problem against risk players want ban the risks (beatable with mind game), who have problem with powered players (they are beatable with risk and mind-game) want ban the maxed stats, who have problem with wide serve (beatable with risks) want ban wide serve... personally, you can decide all you want and I will adapt to the new rules, but I think we can use the time for search a good counter-measures insteed to try to ban everything...

I don't think we can have a rule about risk. There's no real way to tell if someone is using them. Plus, without risk, S&V players have no chance. If you only have 70 or so on FH/BH/Power, you need risk to put any pressure on someone. Besides, risk shots are not easy, and actually are one of the more realistic parts of the game imo. Without risk, you'd have almost zero errors. Then it would just be like VT3.

I don't really like the 50+ idea either. In real life you see plenty of players with weak volleys, movement, serves, etc. What you don't see is someone with Federer's forehand, Agassi's backhand, and Roddick's serve. I suggest that the better way is to limit the number of attributes that can have 90+ to only one. So if you have 90 or more on power, then no other stat can be over 89.

Mostly though, I think everyone's just really rushing things. If things are still the same in 2-3 months, then maybe we need rules. Right now, I seriously doubt that anyone has reached the full potential of the game. Just because you can't beat something after playing a game for 3 weeks, doesn't mean there's something wrong with the game.

I don't care if you ban risks. I'd just like to be able to hit one, one time out of 100.

I don´t wanna ban risk...I said only to split in 2 different tours.
One REG and another one SIM.
Like we did years ago with TS1.
Because there are lots of guys who love them and others who hate them.
Although this could be done on 360, I doubt it would be succesful on PS3 because the amount of guys is reduced.
I don´t know, probably is better let the things go on and see what happens.

If I have to say something about the stats, maybe this is the best solution

Well maybe . But honestly in TS2 we went on and on about the same kind of issues or other issues on the same level and in the end we had endless discussion and they will be here too if we don't decide to do something about it. So we don't spend 1000 of threads untill TS4 comes out.

To what retos said. Me personally i have no problems beating certain players cause i made a player who can deal with power hitters as i have certain things maxed out myself :-) But........... that doesn't mean i find it really boring to play like this and I see that in a few weeks months everybody will play with a similar setup and that can be fun but by far not sim .

I thought TS2 was fun but one of the worst sim tennis games out there . together with VT3. TS3 has potential to be a great one but not the way things are going IMO.

yes i agree. I think it should be minmum 50 and max 90 EXP on any attribute. then we have no problem, and we would have to cleverly construct rallys to win the point!

great idea! But maybe it is not necesary to put a minimum number for the skills? What if we set a maximum difference between the highest and lowest skill, like 40 or something. If you put 100 on 1 skill, the all other skills have to be at least 60. If you set 90, then all other skills must be at least 50.

There is a total of 560 points, of which 8 x 30 = 240 are automatically filled up. so there is 560 - 240 = 320 point to build you character.

If you put one skill to 100, then you're using 70 points, so you have 320 - 70 = 250 points left to distribute.
Since the maximum difference between skills is 40, you have to use 7 x 30 = 210 skill points to put the other skills to at least 60. So there will be 250 - 210 = 40 points left.

So there will not be a lot of points you can CHOOSE to distribute when you put 1 skill to 100...you have only 40 left to fill 7 skills that have 60 at that point:)

(You can even make it worse by setting the maximum difference to 30. If you put one skill to 100, then all other ones must at least be 70. Not possible, so in this setting it even isnt possible to set a skill to 100:) )

i don't think the "max 90" is a good idea if it come together with the "min 50". i mean, we will probably have dittos with just the "min 50" rule, even more with both. if many will still complain about power in some months, let's just limit power to 90 but hey, at least leave free the other skills :P

special set up

Postby AMAZING ZIZOU » Fri, 11 Jul 2008 10:30

I see plenty of you are coming up with great ideas.

One thing is sure, this game needs to be regulate. For ONE tour at least (the sim tour probably or sim +50, ITST +50 or whatever) we need to set a few rules.
It will take time, ROB is right but we already all know the limit of the game (after 3 weeks, yes). WE CAN'T ALLOW ATTRIBUTES WITH 100. It shouldn't exist (even nadal doesn't have 100 % of concentration & grinta in real life :wink: ), so One attribute with 95 or so and all the others with 50 min sound fine ;
however, risk can"t be banned, it is part of the game of tennis, you can decide to risk one shot in order to win the point with the possibilité of missing it, ask James Blake!(+with no risk almost no winning volley is possible).
Consequently it's gonna be tough to all agree to those rules but let's do it.
My proposition is something like that, of course i don't have god's or yoda 's wisdom but it's just an idea :

-You can't move futher than the original position for the Serve (you can go closer to the middle though)
-you can serve a "descent" number of Xserve
- Not more than 1 attribute over 91or92 (one could go to i don't know 95,96 or 97)but not 100 sharp.
- Min 50 to all attributes.
-Risking every single ball is forbidden

Since we all would like this game to "look" real, let's set some rules that avoid it to become unreal.

-------------------------------

If nothing is done, i am preparing a guy with 100 in serve, power, fh, bh & return. Won't be fun but i'll win for sure.
