I feel the same way as you. I always end up playing some professional gamer who has perfected the risk slice and wind up playing the most boring, non-tennis match ever. Yet, I always get sucked back in and register for every damn MS tournament there is. ITST is damn drug!!

I can't even tell between a risk and normal shot in ms

Also, I just got thrashed by petrelli, he was bishop, i was Jansen. (6-4 6-0)

I was trying to serve/volley, but I couldn't get to his returns. I just can't seem to improve my volleying :?

Yes i agree, ive def decided against the risking thing , ive tried to start volleying more to compensate for it and i think it could have a good result if i can get into the net quicker :)

Andy, I did notice u were volleying a lot more in our match the other day. It was pretty sweet and effective my friend. I didn't know if I was playing you or villaj.

Lol Burgrflipr yes i actually really enjoy it now , i just need to be a little quicker in to the net otherwise i get in all sorts of trouble ( hence the amount of times you passed me haha) but was a really nice match :)

BTW - even the best volliers get passed a TON of times during a match. So as long as you win the match and get the important points, I say let them pass!

Mixing serve is crucial. He can't hit a passing return if he has to guess all the time.

Def agree about mixing the serve, i just need to settle down with my game , would love it to be all court, i am more comfortable at baseline of course , but it is a nice feeling to hit good volleys lol

there is nothing more satisfying then seeing a good volley hit a corner and the opponent running desperately, and that second bounce comes just before they reach the ball :)

But nothing worse than watching him lag-teleport to blast a missile off a ball it looked like he wasn't going to touch. :?

this is true! lol.

I played josenylud earlier with me as striker and he as lopez, and dare i say it, a lot of his returns were so kind of weak they would float over the net and land at my feet with zero pace, so i would be hitting a pretty ineffective 1st volley and just tee him up for the big pass attempt. I kind of like to use the opposing players pace on the ball for my volleys (within reason) so when the return has so little pace and so low its damn tricky. the ones that floated slow but high are easy put aways, as well as when he got more pace on the ball i could hit a better 1st volley. i lost 4-6, but managed to break back at 1-2 him serving. because of how poorly i was volleying i experiented with staying back a little bit instead of my usual 95% serve/volley with striker, so striker becomes a poor mans bashmakov, i has a bit of success where i could plant the power but if a rally lasted more than 5-6 shots i'd begin to be outplayed, mainly due to the speed stat and the fact i insist on a 1HBH.

That's exactly why I s/v less than 25% of the time now, I prefer to come in on the second ball even with striker or someone with 80+ on volley. Much easier to deal with the return near the baseline, then apply pressure when you know what you can manage from the return.
