1st set, i served first. We both held serves until 3-2 and got a couple of bp's and converted the 2nd. I was amazed but then alex was on my case immediately after and this is when he upped his game and got a couple of bp's himself. He was aggresive and came back with soem wonderful shots. We held serve until the tie break. I got a mini break for 2-0 however he held and broke bk again again and came up with some nice accurate serves. This player is a big point player and a TIE BREAK player as i found out.
2nd set, we both held but he was putting more pressure on my service games and had a few bp's here and there throughout the set, but i managed to play clutch. I think i maybe had a bp in there but he snuffed it out again. In the tiebreak, i think i got a mini-break again but alex absolutely came up with the big points under pressure and was hitting the lines. Amazing accuracy.
3rd set it was falling away from me near the start of the set. He broke early and then got 0-30 on a few service games after but i knew i had to hold in order to at least see what happens. Then he served at 5-4 for the match, we played a great game, i had 1 single bp and he came up with the big serve and then held on to win..
Some stats, i had 47/10 winners/ue, had something like 86/20. Bp's 1/3 for me, 2/8 for him.
Overall i played a great match, one of the best matches since maybe Wimby 09 and i would say i had my chances, and although few and far between it between they was there. The problem is, the oppoent on the other side of the net. In saying that alex throughly deserved the win, one of the best all round games i've ever seen (Top 3). I told him afterwards he had Djarvik-like skills, although that would be disrespectful as they both are individual and have their own unique attributes and skills.
Alex has to my fav for the tournament now. it will take a special performance to take him out. and he's yet to drop a set
