It happened in ITST matches !!

Postby AMAZING ZIZOU » Mon, 08 Dec 2008 19:37

We are a group of good close friends playing here, i shall just quote all the amazings and a stupid name after and my double partner tomiltom.
We are all watching eachother ITST matches when it's possible and i noticed some pretty cheesy behaviour.
*Returning inside the court 75% of the time
*And some abused X wide serves.

I know we don't have rules and i'd like to keep it that way, 90-40 is enough ; but i would like to remind everyone that, accordind to me and me only for sure, that ITST is a fair gaming place were using cheat or tricks is .... can't say banned but ....let's say ..not welcome.

Just want poeple who read this to remember it sometimes before they do something weird on court.

Best regards from Paris mates!

Returning from inside - agree.

Wide serves - disagree. Not cheesy, just move wide, totally counterable.

I don't like when people complain that - "oh, he did it all the time!" well, here is your answer, if someone constantly doing it, move, counter it.

Edit: I don't mean you, I mean "some" players. :)

Also, if you are playing someone with 80 on serve and you have 40 in return, you basically forfeit the right to complain about the server.

Returning from inside on the other hand, I totally agree with you! Especially using Slice. You don't even have to be way inside, just a step inside enough.
The trouble is, that the server is still finishing the service animation when the ball (providing hit right) is already to the side of him, low, fast.

Also counterable, with very good serving, but should you use your points elsewhere, you are sh#$% out of luck.

My 2c.

I know who you are talking about, yeah, he is the most boring player ever...
I sometimes move inside the baseline just to intimidate my opponent, I try to send out a signal that I am gonna crush your serve, but usually it does not work and I get aced. :x
I think as long as you don't abuse the slice return, then it is a legitimate tactic.
Slice wide serve is debatable since a lot of people are using it, it simply increases the ground you have to cover, but if you move and anticipate well, you can counter them even though occasionally you make a fool out of yourself.
To answer your question: no, I don't think I've ever cheesed!
However, a lot of people think dropshots are cheesy...

Your whole game stinks like the blue cheese! Get real!

BTW - ain't nothing cheesy about drop shots in TS3, absolutely nothing. Whoever complained to you was just mad that you made him take a step forward, in some countries that is considered a crime.

That is so true. I mean, what do you expect?

And you think it's bad when someone uses the slice from right on the baseline, and the ball is on you by the time you finish your motion, try serve and volley. Not only do I have to finish my motion, my guy is also stuck in the RB animation. The worst part it what the best counter is - serve VERY slow. That just ruins the game. Thankfully it doesn't happen very often.

It took me a while to get used to the idea of slice serves being OK, since they were pretty much cheesy on the two previous TS games. But all the slice really does is make you move to hit returns - you can't expect to be able to stand in one spot and reach every serve.

As far as the drop shots, I love when people use them against me. It usually only happens once though.

You learned my secret! Before every match I eat mozzarella stick-fondu (fried cheese dipped in melted cheese). The grease on my thumb works like a lubricant to help me slide the right stick faster.

I still avoid doing the short wide slice very often out of habit, but I no longer think it is cheesy at all, just really annoying and I need to learn how to return it better (I know I can with practice). It's not like on old TS games where the slow wide serves gave you an exponentially high reward to the low amount of risk involved in hitting it.

Sometimes I hit more short wide slices against good returners and it almost always turns out worse for me lol, they start blasting winners past me. Against bad returners I don't feel the need to hit that serve so I do it very rarely.

Drop shots = not cheesy IMO

Super slice returning inside the baseline is the only cheesy play in TS3 IMO after the update removed super wide serving.

Short answer is though, no I don't think I've ever really played cheesy (ok there were a couple of times I got sucked into doing against some notorious ITST cheesers, I'll admit lol).

Man, one of my biggest problems with stick serving is that sometimes my finger slides right off the stick and hits the start button. Then the start menu pops up while the point is going. I've gotten so used to it that now I just push start and get right back into the point without thinking about it. It really hurts when I do serve and volley though, the point is pretty much over.

That sounds horrible.

No joke though, I wash my hands and clean the stick with a little rubbing alcohol.

Are you doing it with force? or rather soft but quick?

I have tried, but after a day my thumb would hurt really bad, maybe I am just doing to hard. I do thou serve with stick time to time, when nothing else works, to get that extra speed, or when everything else works, to practice :)
