ATTENTION Roddick's serve users! SERVE D.

Postby djarvik » Mon, 01 Feb 2010 20:07

:!:

A friendly request.

Please, try and bounce a ball at least once before serving, twice is ideal.

First, there is an issue in the game, where sometimes your player will get "stuck", won't respond to your buttons when returning Roddick's serve....this is more pronounced and evident when the serve is executed with no ball bounce at all.

Second, sometimes we change our return positions, this is normal in tennis. But, Roddick's serve motion is so fast that it prevents us to get into a desired return position.

Such a "speed" serving should not be part of tactics. Give your opponent a courtesy and bounce the ball twice. Just like in real tennis, if the returner is not ready - you simply don't serve.

Thank you for your understanding and appreciate your cooperation.

Long live TS3!

I never wait. It's not a tactics but I just don't like to have to wait between points.

I don't use Roddick but I wonder if people really use it as a tactics.

I doubt people use it as a tactic, but I know where Djarvik's coming from. Sometimes it's just so quick that you can't position yourself properly - for me it's because when you try to reposition, you seem to almost move quicker than when you try to run.

It is really an issue only with Roddick's serve. You are using Feds serve, so the animation is long and there is enough time to reposition. I would still like to see at least one bounce.....but its up to you man.

Right, I hate when people bounce once. :-)

I am always like ugh. Get on with it. It's not so hard to serve in TS3 so don't give me that concentrating before the serve lol. Never thought of that people want the bounce to get in position.

....but mainly I am referring to a glitch with Serve D, Roddick's serve. Sometimes, as a returner, my player simply doesn't respond to any buttons when that serve is done with no bounce....direction or shot button....he simply stands still for duration of the serve....I feel sorta "locked" out of that service play.

....but as a courtesy it is also important. Maybe its me, but I do adjust my returning position almost on every serve.....so not allowing me to do that is Tactics. All I ask is a bounce.

Djarivk, you are absolutely right in what you say.

I use Roddick animation and bounce the ball at least once as a minimum, because i don't like serving straight away + it gives the opponent some time. Sometimes I bounce up to 3 times if i am trying to change my rhythm.

Anyway, point is i played someone the other day and he used roddick but served straight away and yes your player gets stuck, and does a kinda late stick the racket out kinda thing and it floats back and then gets smashed by the opponent.

So i had to stay still to be able to hit a clean shot.

Great call, hard to manage but yes out of respect people should oblige...

I don't use serve d anymore. THere's another issues in regards to the controllers on ps3. Hint: Dual Shock and Sixaxis Pads vary enormously and there's no consistency in regards to the timing, After a while i gave up on it. It worked well for the sixaxis (1 df/200 serves) but when transfering to the Dualshock, the dualshock faults you even when you TIME IT PERFECTLY lol.

I think this should apply to all service motions. It is good to bounce the ball at least once just to make sure your opponent is "ready"

thats true, but the other motions are at least slow enough to give you some time, but i think out of respect you should always give your opponent time to get into a position

Well I don't use D so it doesn't matter, but I'm not gonna start bouncing the ball, that's for sure. The matches already take way too damn long, I really don't have all day to sit and watch guys bounce balls and watch replays. Just get on with it it if you use anything besides 'D'...and I don't care what my opponents do either, because I don't move on my returns, I just stay in the default position 90% of the time.

Like I've already said, if there's really this 'glitch' with 'D', then you should bounce the ball once or twice....but honestly, in real tennis you don't wait until the returner is ready, the returner waits until YOU'RE ready...
